Could happen if he told Poile he wants out or if they are miles apart in their negotiations. Since Suter's agent was in town and talking to Poile recently, both sides should know what the other wants.

Can we still call somebody up from Milwaukee during the roster freeze?

But what are we going to get in return for him? I would rather keep Suter at this point than trade him. The team is playing well right now, but needs an upgrade on the blueline rather than a downgrade. An upgrade on the offense would have to at least make up for goals we would inevitably give up by dealing Suter. I don't see Philly parting with that piece.

Yes; the roster freeze prohibits players from being waived, traded, or loaned from NHL rosters. It does not prohibit movement within the same organization if there is roster space.

So seeing what Turris netted would anyone do Blum/Josi/Ellis + 2nd for him?

I think we would being hating Poile even more if he had made the trade Ottawa did.

I don't make that trade. Turris doesn't fill any need at the moment. We know Blum and Josi have what it takes to develop into solid NHL defensemen. Ellis may very well have that, too. He is doing fine in the AHL from what I can tell. Turris, on the other hand, seems to have maturity problems and hasn't exactly been shaping up to be what everyone expects him to be. not yet anyway.

So you're basically asking what we would have thought had Poile traded Blum (a guy we know can play at this level, but needs some seasoning), Josi (see also: Blum but with more offensive upside, at least from what I've seen), or Ellis (probably won't be as good defensively as either of those two, but still a solid offensive defenseman) plus a pick for a guy who has 137 NHL games under his belt and has yet to look like the player people expected him to be when he was drafted. I would have been pissed.

I think it goes to show that fanbases are guilty of overrating there own prospects and as a fan it's hard to gauge value of one of your prospects compared to their real value GM's would assign them. I'm just as guilty of this as anyone.

But no my first reaction is no way to any if our top D-man prospects plus a 2nd rounder for Turris. Personally I am not a Turris fan but obviously he still has at least one believer in Murray OR Rundblad's value was much less than what Sens fans tried to hype it to be.

spot on, agree. giving up too much for too much uncertainty is not our style.

Asking price WAY to high. Glad we didn't get involved.

Agreed, it'd probably be one of Josi/Ellis/Blum + a 2nd. Turris hasn't done crap, though he does have potential, I don't think it'd be worth the risk, especially if he and Trotz don't get along.

I think it's time Boston and Nashville finally connect on one of the many trades they have discussed. Remember how close we were to seeing Kessel on the Preds?

Suter to Boston. Cost? (I know Krejci is a great answer in Nashville but he is signed while Suter is a UFA).

Here are our current lineups and prospects:

Lucic - Krejci - Horton
Marchand - Bergeron - Seguin
Peverley - Kelly - Pouliot
Paille - Campbell - Thornton
Hamill and Caron

Chara - Boychuck
Seidenberg - Corvo
Ference - McQuaid
Kampfer

Thomas
Rask

Prospects:

Hamilton
Spooner
Knight
Sauve
Arniel

Spooner and Knight are the big forward prospects who would have made the NHL last year if they weren't property of the Stanley Cup Champions who had almost everyone coming back.

Brassard was the one. Carter was unhappy with Philly for the way they royally screwed him but many misinterpreted it as not wanting to play in Columbus.

At the deadline, maybe Spooner + Seidenberg + 1st? I would love for Poile to get a hold of Hamilton, but I don't see Boston doing that. If for some reason he was available, Hamilton +1st.

All I want for Christmas is a shiny new contract for Ryan Suter. Sure hope that's what he wants too.

glenn and I have been discussing Zanon on the main board so I thought I'd bring it here... would you take Zanon back(as presumably a 3rd pair/Hillen replacement) if all it cost was a 3rd or 4th round pick?

Easily, Hillen makes me uncomfortable every time he gets near the puck.

I wouldn't. i would prefer a bigger body than zanon. cheap route would be a guy like sutton, expensive would be beauchamin. we need mean. we need snarl. we need tough.

Then Zanon wouldn't change much. All he does when he's around the puck is lay on his stomach.

I agree with Ryan, we need someone with a little more, to use a Burke-ism, truculence. I don't want Sutton, though; he's as likely to put us in shorthanded situations as he is to clear out the crease, and with our penalty kill, that's something we don't need. Bryan Allen would be a good addition, though, and probably wouldn't cost that much.

I would love if Stuart was available from Winnipeg, but I only see Oduya going at the deadline.
