eh never liked Regin anyways...I think this is it for Regin and the Sens, he's injured more than healthy....and playing injured isn't helping the organization or himself.

Plus we have ample players coming through the system that can garner spots on our top 6 soon...

I love Regin but that is the only answer. The Senators should not spend money on a player who can't play, it makes no sense.

This makes the overpay look even better. Im wondering if Sens Brass had some inside knowledge about the shoulder before the deal.

Regin might not be the ideal 2nd line center right now, but he has the skillset and the two way game to make a decent one.

I saw him hanging out with Leclaire a few years ago. Looks like the injury bug rubbed off on him.

To be fair Regin's issue is his shoulder, not his entire body like Leclaire.

So, with Michalek back next week and Turris already on the team, guess this won't change much of anything right? I feel bad for Regin but I think his time in the NHL is done.

What's with the hype behind Regin anyway? Hasn't he showed flashes in only one streak of 14 games in 2010? That's a rather small sample in my opinion. He's a waste of a valuable roster spot.

really, who didn't see this coming. Sens should resign the guy but for a one year league min. to salvage some value from him. His past two years have been unlucky #13

I don't see this guy getting resigned, too many issues with the shoulder, needs to go back to Europe.

Damn it all, he would have been half way done recuperating if he got is surgically fixed in the first place. His career is in jeopardy.

Now what? Da Costa is coming back?

Outside of last year Regin's been a pretty damn good player.

Butler sneaking back into the lineup (again!), plus we're apparently playing 7D tonight with only 11 forwards.

Maybe they're just going to wait it out, and hope Michalek is good to go tomorrow?

I'd offer him a 1-year 2 way deal, he's not waiver exempt but he could play his way back on the team?

That's highly debatable:

Year Team League GP G A PTS +/-
2011-12 Ottawa NHL 10 2 2 4 3
2010-11 Ottawa NHL 55 3 14 17 -4
2009-10 Ottawa NHL 75 13 16 29 10

Looks pretty average. I think he's way overhyped. But that's me.

Would rather have Da Costa than Regin at this point. Even though he's small he can at least take a hit. Plus he's been good in Bingo so far.

Yeah he's garnered a lot of unwarranted hype on this board for a while now.

Damn shame. I thought Regin looked great earlier in the season under MacLean and was just getting back into the swing of it. Really talented 2-way player, sad to see his year likely done.

I'd still offer him a 1-way. 1 year, 1 million and if he's hurt all year, you walk away. If not, then he may yet be of some importance on the third line.

What a shame but it was pretty obvious he wasn't ready to come back. He had no strength to take draws. Did he think opponents especially the big checkers would lay off him and not hit him every chance they had. He should have sat out another month or two until he was strong enough to play all parts of the game.

7d? Carkner can play forward and Lee has been known to do it from time to time.

Yes, Regin's spokesman prospects with the sling company pale in comparison to Leclaire's outlook with the cast and wheelchair companies.

His nhl career is pretty much done at this point. Dislocated shoulders are a *****. Even with surgery....
