Western team fans have always talked about how big of a baby Ott is. Now I believe them

I mean come one, an "agitator" who wears a shield?

He was threatening the Flyers bench, more specifically Briere according to the broadcast crew. He was taking runs, but Flyers 4 th line was running everybody. Great performance by them and the Giroux line.

Ott wouldn't have survived back in the 80's. He couldn't hide behind the refs from Dave Brown.

I don't think he's always worn a shield. A few years ago, when the Stars had their affiliate in Iowa, I went to a couple games when he was there on conditioning assignment and looked like he couldn't stand the mandatory visor -- kept pushing his helmet back on his head so that it was over his forehead more than his eyes. Actually, I was surprised last night when I saw him wearing one (I don't watch a lot of Dallas games so I don't know when it started). I also remember that I couldn't wait for him to be done with his conditioning assignment and go back to Dallas and get away from the Iowa Stars. Didn't like him at all then, and still don't.

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard the VS announcers saying Ott was starting **** with Laviolette, and the bench in general, during the game.

"If that's[Flyers] the top echelon of this league and we're the bottom in terms of payroll, with our character, I like our chances..."

No link. Just going to have to trust me.

what do you expect Ott to say? Obviously the guy is going to pick his team over any other team

Whether or not he's right about what happened during the 1st intermission, his whining to the media is the skunk move. I'd also think a guy yapping all game about what he was physically going to do wouldn't have backed away from Bourdon.

I just didn't see Lavi walking down the tunnel as a sign of disrespect, if it was Torts or another coach and he did that to the Flyers I would be more concerned about our player getting suspended for putting his hands on a coach, and for real Ott stop crying you kept talking about how you were gonna run Briere because somebody put a good check on Riberio (sp) but then walk away like a pusst when MAB drops his gloves tough guy? And if it is true you were trying to run Roo after coming back from a concussion I'd have no problem with Sestito or Rinaldo destroying you after you turtle

Explains why Lavy didn't seem too pissed Bourdon took a penalty trying to get him to scrap.

Lappy said that Ott wasn't a player he saw eye to eye with because he hits people from behind most of the time.

I'd like to give Laviolette the benefit of the doubt, but I honestly can't think of a single reason he had being where he was.
It was because Ott made a run at Giroux when he didnt even have the puck. Giroux avoided most of the hit - but obviously Ott's intent was to do some damage to a player who didnt even have the puck.

Ott's been like that for a while now, it really doesn't surprise me.

I missed the first half of the game, so I don't know exactly what was happening before then. I wasn't shocked to hear the stuff about Ott though, and wasn't shocked to see Lavy shove him either.

I mean, I'm sure Lavy said something to him but he didn't look that pissed off at MAB.

The best part of MAB try to get Ott to go is that he's smiling the whole time.

I'm pretty sure every Stars player (besides Ott) would have let Lavy cut by them...I mean when you actually think about it it's not even a big deal...

But Ott for whatever reason decided to go out of his way to block Lavy, why he did it? Who knows. Maybe for control, to stir things up or he did it because (to put it in his own words) he's just so ****ing arrogant. At the end of the day that game was filled with so much emotion that Ott had to have known he'd get some kind of reaction out of Laviolette if he did that...he could've avoided that entire scene by walking down the tunnel calmly like the rest of his team mates...so I guess because he "started" it I'm going to blame Ott for that incident everytime...

Plus he's Steve Ott, which means he's always in the wrong

nOtt versus Laviolent.

I'd say that Ott needs to work on his defense. Laviolette pushed by him pretty easily.

Does he realize his team had a 1 goal lead, and then got wrecked? Does he even realize that he lost? I haven't seen the game yet (plan on watching it tonight on demand), but it sounds like after they started acting up, we matched them there too, and beat them on the scoreboard.

I agree with this......I really like Lavy as a coach and person etc, but had this happened in our arena, it might have got ugly ? He should have just waited for them to exit...

Send a message via AIM to Giroux tha Damaja
If Brendan Morrow did that, I bet Laviolette would've stood there and let them pass. It was Steve Ott. I'd be damned if Steve Ott was gonna tell me what to do too. I would've pushed my way past him on principle even if I had planned to just stand there before he said something to me.
