Look, the fact is Staal made the All-Star team largely based on a very stellar first half of the season, cant take that away from him, but he tailed off greatly after that all-star nomination.

He had 6 goals and was a +12 at the All-Star break (solid, yes), but finished the year with 7 goals and was only +8. Yeah, I know he's not and offensive Dman, but O-numbers rightly or wrongly often matter for a Dman's ASG selection, and finished -4 on the 2nd half of the entire season, and then proceeded to go -3 in the playoffs.
His offensive production came to a screetching halt, but the fact is that could be said for our entire team after the break. There were an AWFUL few months there. In addition, we have learned since (much to our frustration) that Marc was concussed, and still playing nearly half a game every night.

His plus minuses are more indicative of the team around him than himself, if I may. The Rangers couldn't buy a goal after the break, and lost in 5 games in the playoffs. If Marc had managed to keep an even plus minus while losing 4 games and winning 1, I'd call him a genie.

I got a beautiful bouquet of flowers after you guys beat us in 08, only problem is they were red, white and blue!

Lol..she's done that a few times also using mine!

And at 21 years old, you SHOULD think that about marriage. But truth be told, if you find the right girl...it ain't a bad gig!

Yeah based on stories my father's told me, it truly was a dangerous place. He got our seasons back in 83 and he said that back then no one would dare go up to the blue wearing another teams jerseys. There were actually no fights up there because it was all Ranger fans. All the fights happened down in the corporate seats because that's where the other teams fans sat and of course when a fight broke out the "red seats suck" chant would start. The renovation in the early 90's where they took out a good chunk of the blue seats for the suites put an end to a lot of that.

Haha..yes, I've heard similar stories as well from my dad. I actually got to experience a few of those games in the "old" blue seats before the 90's renovation, and boy oh boy were those fun! If memory serves me correctly, the first game I ever went to there, about 10 minutes in one of the refs made a call against the Rangers that multiple scary looking, long haired men disagreed with. Well they proceeded to scream at the ref that they were going to **** his wife later that night as punishment for said call!

It was "Drive a Porsche Pelly" for Pelly Lindberg, the Flyers other goalie. Beat your wife Potvin is correct.

Haha..sorry. Like I said, wasn't around for those days really. I had heard about it from older fans, but couldn't remember the goalie's name, so I googled it and that's what came up. Apparently, it was incorrect!

Actually it was Drive a Porsche Hextall because Lindberg had died when he crashed his Porsche.

Not sure if you were there; I was and I would chant drive a porsche Pelle as did the rest of my section. Maybe the crowd was split on the chant.

The fact that he was dead had no bearing. We are still chanting to Denis Potvin and he hasn't played in 25 years or so.

Been going to Rangers games since 77 and no, it was for Hextall. Lindberg had already passed on. It would make no sense to chant at Hextall for Pelly to drive a porsche.

Potvin was correct as was this little diddy

"Alan Arbour beats his wife, do-da do-da, Alan arbour beats his wife, oh da do da day"

Not cool

The worst thing I ever witnessed was a Rangers fan lighting an Islanders jersey on fire while the guy was wearing it.

Not cool.

Adam Larsson wasn't touted as a offensive defenseman, his decent numbers so far must come as a bit of a surprise. He had 9 points in 37 games in SEL last year and 13 points in 33 games in NHL this year. As we all now NHL is a better league...

He was described as a twoway d-man, he has had his ups and downs this season as expected for a player playing the year after his draft. His strenght in the longrun is supposed to be his defensive play not his offense.

Time will tell if he reaches Staals level of play or surpas it.

Completely irrelevant but fun fact? My brother lives in the house Al Arbour owned when he was the Isles coach.

That happened in Philly too where a Flyer fan lit a Rangers fan's jersey on fire back in the early-80s. Again, WTH is wrong with people?
