You are doing it wrong.

Your sample size is way too large.

They are 4-1-0 in their last 5 games.

Or make it larger, 7-4-0 in their last 11 games.

Oh I didn't know those statistics

I was just looking at Yahoo! and noticed that statistic

Good to know we're on an up swing... Hopefully we can ride this hot streak.

My friends and I were watching the game last night and we noticed the same thing. Makes me wonder if EJ's groin is bothering him and they want to "play it safe" right now. That's the ONLY decent excuse I can think of.

Maybe Johnson isn't quite ready for top minutes either? His correct development would be the #1 priority on defense. He has certainly looked good against his matchups the past few games since returning from his injury.

Like playing our midgets together and against a monster line with Stewart and Berglund? That really angered me we all saw that goal coming.

Just got a chance to finish watching.

Johnson is far and away our best dman, wow has he been playing great.

Duchene has so much talent, but sometimes he just looks lost out there. Some of it's on coaching, but some is on Duchene. Why was he on the point at the end there?

Stastny has been playing great since his injury. Hope he keeps it up.

O'Reilly & Landeskog <3.

O'Brien played well his 1st 10 or so games here, but he continuously makes ******** plays. I hate when gets the puck, almost. If he has time in the defensive zone, he skates the puck to the red line, not looking to make a play at all, dumps it in, while all 3 forwards are standing still, which leads to an easy breakout for the opposition. In the offensive zone, we actually have a nice cycle going, puck goes to O'Brien, head down and shoot. It almost always gets blocked and it just kills any pressure.

Hejda has been much better as of late. This is the guy we signed.

Malone is a good player, he should stick.

Hunwick and Elliott struggled in their own end.

I am never as impressed with Pietrangelo as other posters seem to be.

One thing that bugs me about EJ, is when the puck is dumped in he usually will freeze. He makes the other guys skate and get it whichever side it is on. There always is a pause by both guys, need better communication.

I don't know who the ideal partner is for him. Suter, obviously, but from our roster I don't know. Quincey? O'Brien? Hejda?

It is because of his offense. He has great offensive instincts. He isn't that great in the defensive zone but I don't doubt he will be an excellent #1 d-man.

For some reason most attribute a franchise defenseman with being a great offensive player. You can have a franchise defensive defenseman and a offensive player to compliment him. Mark Staal, Bouwmeester, Stevens, etc.

Johnson would have been a great compliment to either Petro or Shattenkirk.

I still think Hejda would be his best partner. Hejda and EJ were trying to preovide too much offense. They both needed to simplify their game, play better defensively especially Hejda as he was supposed to be the guy staying back for EJ.

I prefer keeping Quincey on the second pairing. It seems every time he starts being used on the top pairing, he starts struggling. Not sure if it is the stress or he just tries too hard.

Smart move. I wouldn't want to get hit in the corner either.

He actually communicates better than any defenseman on our team. You can always see him yelling something or pointing at a forward and telling him to check a specific player.

I would say Quincey. Let him play to his puck movement and EJ can stay at home. Either one can skate with the puck and make a good outlet. I think that would relieve a lot of pressure on both of them.

I don't care what you people say about Elliott... I still think the Avalanche are in the market for a quick PMD.

They were saying during the game he prefers playing with O'Brien because he is very vocal and doesn't let him get away with much on or off the ice.

Sounds similar to what Wilson might have been like, so personally speaking, I like O'Brien or Wilson there.

In the long run, I could see...

Suter/O'Brien - Johnson
Wilson - Elliott
O'Brien/Hejda - O'Byrne

Hejda/O'Byrne swinging in and out of the lineup based on injuries, play and if we get Suter or a similar #1/2 type guy.

Barrie and Siemens likely can push O'Byrne and O'Brien out over the next couple seasons if Wilson keeps his play up. Maybe we can keep O'Brien as a character bottom pairing guy and ship out Hejda when Duncan is ready to enter the bigs.

Gaunce/Chouinard deserve to get moved where they will get a shot at a call up if they don't get time before their contracts expire imo. Seeing as we'll have Donnelly, Beaupre, Silas, Rutowski all fighting for a contract over the next 3 years.

Exactly. He looks better the way he's playing right now, let's not load him up on minutes and make him play like crap again.

Quincey's puck moving abilities are a tad overrated. He certainly isn't O'Byrne when he has the puck, but he isn't what I'd consider a PMD either.

In any event, I agree with a lot of other people here that O'Byrne should be the next guy to have some press box time.

Giguere absolutely positively should be the starting goalie until his play drops down.

Look at his numbers, it's among the league leaders. I'm sure Varlamov wouldn't mind as long as the team is winning. And he'll get his chance again because Giguere probably will cool down at some point. But right now he should be the starter
