ll can't lock that 3rd goal. good start with a new coach, but the real test is tomorrow. Let's see what we can do with a team that isn't in a rut
That's a concern...they can't bag 3 agasint the Ducks, what happens when they play the Sharks tomorrow or next week the Hawks?
They definately played better, from the first drop of the puck they were more focused and drove harder to the net. But they still can't finish...I'd love a 4-1 or 5-1 game...It's a puzzle that they can't get more than 2.
And that's the second ga me in a row when they coughed up the lead in the third, which I'm sure Sutter will bark about .
The key guys all played well Kopi and Brown were esp. good. I thought Richards played well, given his first game in 3 weeks, I'm sure he'll get his legs and wind with each game.
But I loved him driving Perry to the ice behind Quick in the third period and them staring him down.
Wish there was a replay of that...
So far, so good, but Kompton has to go...quickly
And Sutter has to work on the PP ...or a better versoin of it...they weren't good at all.
you can see a few boys coming around the last few games. Brown is starting to rock, Doughty is starting to play with brass balls, 4th line getting aggressive, and Mitchell has to be re-signed. Kopitar is getting chances and he soon will have a very big night.
Gagne had a bad game in my eyes, seemed to drifting and moving the puck poorly.
Hats off to Voynov, what a great game. moved the puck, pinched in at the right times and took the body, while being in the proper defensive position. He reminds me of a more physical Visnovsky. If he keeps progressinf there is no need to keep JJ around
Johnson - I dont ever want to see him go by JMFJ on here again. There is no MF in him, more of JOMGJ, the OMG is self explanitory in his own end. He is still young though and maybe Sutter will get him to brass up his balls.
I think Brown was told to get his S together or gtfo when TM got fired.
Thought everyone contributed.
Nice to see the old Williams. So quick.
Richards was really using his speed tonight.
Penner made a bad play, but he gets his linemates open. Also had a couple good passes and whacks at it. Man that guy is due. He's doing almost everything right.
I like our 4th line's gooniness. It's a controlled gooniness. Westy's playing much smarter. Fraser's perfect for that role and Cliffy seems to be getting his head out of his A. Finally.
I like Coach Sutter. Nothing annoyed me more than the team imploding and TM saying nothing. Not to say TM was a bad coach but this young team needed someone they will go to battle for and TM wasn't it.
....oh except JJ. That fan on the PP was facepalms x 32057978540978305...
Now let's get back on track and get into the playoffs.
So everyone's happy about the win and all that, but all I could think watching this game was that they're still the same team. They still didn't go hard enough to the net, they still play offense from the perimeter, and they still need to be basically perfect defensively to win the game.
Cant believe Kopitar and Brown are saddled with Richardson.
The team is having trouble scoring?
Well no **** with that guy on the top line.
Lombo needs to trade one of JMFM or Voynov, or someone like Clifford+ for a scoring LW.
Like it or not this team misses Smyth.
Impressed with Fraser tonight. He played well. Penner is still loafing around. Such a waste of talent.
Doughty is always such a treat to watch. He just does so many things out there. He may be off pace offensively, but he does EVERYTHING out there. Nice to see Richards back. What a clutch player that guy is. Brayden who? Brayden who cares that's who.
If I were looking to move a dman for some top six scoring it would be JMFJ. Voynov looks like he could have a pretty high ceiling. Too many plugs up front and too many underachieving over-paid vets. Move one of them if you can, either that or bury them in the minors.
I love Voynov, he is able to jump on the rush so well. And he is physical too, I remember one point when he was pining Perry to the boards and Perry wasn't moving I was impressed on that.
Selanne looks like he could play ten more years. Guy looks like he's 20.
Ducks are a dirty ass team.
Nice "Bob's your Uncle" by Brookbank on Stoll. Hope he gets a couple games for that. I didnt even notice the broadcast crew pick up on that. Not sure if they did later or not.

There's nothing wrong with giving Richie a look on the top line. He brings speed and tenacity every shift. Yeah, he doesn't have the best hands, but teamed with some skilled players, he can score some.
