No, it's more of a tradition thing. He's been doing them for years, I think if you wanted to go ahead and jack a game it would be respectful to ask first. My $0.02.
No offense to Loffen or anything, but I don't think he has to ask. Unless Loffen got permission to always make the GDTs, it shouldn't be reserved for him to make. The only reason I didn't make one by now is because I don't want to copy Loffen's style.

That's not why he should do Loffen the favor of asking first, it's because even if Loffen isn't the only one allowed to make them, he always starts making them assuming no one else is going to; he has a lot of information to gather and fill in, especially for a back-back game. Not to mention Loffen is a Euro and it affects his bedtime.
It's just courteous to ask the person who is doing them regularly if you can get a turn before doing so.
Anyway, this is a pretty stupid topic for everyone to get up in arms about. LGR.

I made a thread for this very thing a few years back and several people pitched in and whatnot but in the end it just came down to 'oh i'll get this game and he will get that game and she will get this game, ya' know...whenever."
Then again, I don't really care about the GDT as I barely use it.

Hoping we can completely dominate Giroux defensively as we did last time...but that was with Jagr injured, Giroux-Jagr is quickly becoming a top-notch tandem. Need to keep their speed, stickhandling, and strength to the outside and they CANNOT turn the puck over in ANY zone when these players are on the ice .. they're deadly on the rush.

Same lineup for the good guys with Henrik in net. Cheeks stayed on the ice with Staal,Wolski and the healthy scratches after the optional skate was over meaning he is out tonight
