I watched until 4-1 last night then started fast forwarding not even sure why.

Glad I did.

Oh no... A fan of one of the perpetually lowest payrolls in the league did not just say that? If I were Suter or Weber I would want more commitment from the Preds ownership group before I signed long term.

Suprised that nobody jumped on this gem in the latest puck rakers.

Jacketville was an unpleasant place tonight. It will be vacated for a few days for the holidays. A break from a 9-21-4 season is needed, defenseman Marc Methot said.

I'm not all on the +/- number as other people. He has been mostly solid on both sides, but he has really struggled the last 4-5 games.

I think that sometimes guys try to hard, and get out of their natural abilities. Wiz might just be trying to hard to make something happen.

Here is another little dig that usually won't end up in the print edition. Not that it isn't deserved, but a reporter is supposed to be.........

http://www.bluejacketsxtra.com/conte...hat-trick.html

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Blue Jackets blew two three-goal leads and lost in most deflating fashion, 6-5 to the Nashville Predators last night. The Blew Jackets? Against Nashville, yes.

Obligatory reference to how little heart and/or how lazy the players are.

Is it trying too hard when he lets Erat blow by him last night or is it something a little more obvious... such as he isnt worth 5.5 million as a defenseman?

Its called "The Commodore/Redden Effect"

Take a good NHL defenseman, prop him up among the elites with a huge and (unfortunately) necessary contract for this team, given time, his skills, stats, plays, etc are all magnified 10 fold.

Wiz is playing too many minutes in a role that he's not right for.

Love the guy, but I don't think he makes it thru this contract. Liked the signing more than Commodore, certainly, and I certainly see the necessity to make the deal from the CBJ point of view, but its really no different in the grand scheme than him making these mistakes if he were on a shorter and less-taxing financial deal. You need your best pairings out there at the end, he still is among our best.

The ultimate goal would be to be able to move him down a pair, but then he goes from overpaid to "Vastly Overpaid" and the subject of "why?" from the pundits across the media and fans.

Wiz - Dorsett - Tyutin. He split all 3 players. At least that is what my 45 year old eyes sans glasses could see. But I could be incorrect.

I had to leave for a Christmas party when it was 5-2. I checked the score when I got back home - seriously - WTF?

I can partially understand that the team struggles when they get behind and have bad breaks and they crumble. But crumbling after you're up 4-1.

Bag skate them on Christmas.

Tyutin was -3 on the night.

But Wiz is our only problem on defense and the only one with an untradeable albatross of a contract....

Yes, by all means. Make them stay around over the holidays and bag skates too. Then they'll be better.

All the blood has been squeezed from this stone. I would make all practices optional from here on out....

True story. Jeff Carter's dad was in town recently. Someone asked him "Is Jeff at practice?" He laughed and said "It's optional, no way you'll see him there!"

Pretty much sums up the mentality.

Lookeed like maybe he was Carter's man. Not sure what the scheme is there - Tyutin and Wiz were wide - Erat skated past Carter but Dorse was there, too. Tyutin was too far wide to the away side to get in the play - Wiz was to the side where Erat was skating toward, so he got into the play. I'd say if we're laying blame, it goes Carter-Wiz-Dorse-Tyutin.

So this is what happens when you inject Philly's "locker room cancer" into an already unhealthy locker room?

What is there to jump on, Sam?

Many of these guys are playing for their professional lives and the team is bad. It has to be frustrating and depressing for them as well. We can blame the players (ahem...Scott Howson) all we want, but if it's the players, it's really the roster. Don't tell me a team can't win with Jeff Carter on the roster or Ryan Johansen or Vinny Prospal or a number of others. They can score hat tricks and still can't stop the bleeding.

At some point the realization may hit that players have to be put in a position to succeed.

Let's say you're paid very well to work for a failing company that's the worst among all their competitors. Your co-workers are lackeys, your boss is an inexperienced jerk and his boss is an idiot (except for the good decision to overpay you), and the owners are absentees. Wouldn't you look forward for some time away from that mess?!?

To me the saddest quote in the article comes from Trotz when he talks about staying in the game because the CBJ will get "nervous." Even opposing coaches publicly call us fragile. There is certainly a lot of work to be done!
