I cannot agree. The puck carrier is responsible, and it says so much in the rule book.
Quote:
There is an enormous amount of judgment involved in the application of this rule by the Referees. The onus is on the player applying the check to ensure his opponent is not in a defenseless position and if so, he must avoid or minimize the contact. However, in determining wheter such contact could have been avoided, the circumstances of the check, including whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position immediately prior to or simultaneously with the check or whether the check was unavoidable can be considered. This balance must be considered by the Referees when applying this rule.
Bring it next time, boys, or don't... you know... since the latter is the option you guys have ****ing taken lately
my thoughts exactly.. very frustrating team.. lots of problems on this team going into christmas. hopefully we get it together. this dallas team is likely to be a team we will be fighting for a playoff spot.. these 2 pts lost are worse when the 2 pts won is for a team that might toss you out of the playoffs come april...
Frustrating to struggle so hard to maintain playoff status. Especially since it'll be the last playoff year for a while; with 6 and 20 leaving it'll be 'build from the draft' time again. Sigh.
Why does Kostitsyn get so much ice? I just don't understand it. Penalty killing? He only seems to work hard when he thinks he might get a point in the O zone.
I know Preds played last night and Dallas didn't, but Preds looked quick, considering.

Hornqvist - 3 points in 20 games. Smith- 1 goal in 20 games. Kostitsyn 3 points in 14 games. Someone tell me how these 3 guys, playing top line minutes have these stats...... Maybe that is the Preds problem???????
Something does not add up there?

Because you confuse Trotz strategy with general strategy
Sorry the baby mojo didn't work tonight. Either way having a kid really puts a different perspective on hockey games. I can't wait to take my beautiful baby girl to her first game!!! She is a preds fan from birth!!
Thanks for all the well wishes and back to your regularly scheduled gdts!

Sometimes we take this too far. It obviously isn't your fault or her fault. Enjoy it, sir. You deserve to. Hockey is a game. Hannah is a life.
Ya, maybe that's my problem! It just seems insane to me sometimes. But apparently this coach is up for " coach of the year" every year... So I guess I know nothing!

Ya, I got that. Sometimes on these boards we could use a "sarcasm font". It just seems like he gets "stuck" on certain lines, and players who he LOOKS to more than others more deserving, that's all!
Preds are 1 of my favorite teams, but I don't follow as closely as some of you, which may be the cause of my confusion at times.
Our goalies aren't getting much help, but they have to start helping themselves at some point. I thought both of the first two goals Rinne let in were very much preventable. I don't know where his head is right now, but we need the Vezina finalist back ASAP.
Amazingly, our offense is clicking fairly well right now, thanks especially to Erat, Legwand, and the SWT line, but Kostitsyn-Fisher-Hornqvist is simply atrocious, and Fisher's little disappearing act on the back-breaker by Benn doesn't really leave a great impression. Smith needs to quit sulking over that blown empty netter and get back to what made him so good. If we get our defense back on track with the return of Klein and SLake's mystery defenseman, maybe that gets Rinne going and puts us in a position to make a good charge down the stretch.
Honestly, though, if you had told me on November 1 that we would be 8th at Christmas, after the start we had, I would have taken it with a smile on my face. We're still right in the thick of things just shy of the halfway mark. Still plenty of time to get things together.
