5-9 Dynamo Jared Spurgeon Is Wild's Iron Man

It was due...

...then again, did anyone else know Spurgeon was leading the team in average TOI?

More like Jared Spurgod.

Seriously, how many goals did he save so far?

I have grown to like him. A lot. Normally midgets on defense irritate me but Spurgeon has earned his spot. He is a hustler and he keeps his mouth shut. Pretty cool.

We all like to rag on Russo for his man crush on Spurgie, but Spurgeon has been our most consistant player thus far.

i have been less displeased with Spurgie than most of our D so...for me i guess the timing isn't that off. but he is not 5'9". on skates maybe.

I actually knew that he was one of the leading guys on TOI. Since i live in Norway i dont get to watch alot of games, and then i'm relying on Recap and boxscore to give me some info the morning after.

Spurgie is one of the only guys to almost reach 21 m + every game.
(Scandella is one of the other)

Still amazed he can do anything with the puck with such a long stick. He ain't 5'9 for sure but his stick is probably 5'9 long.

He has impressed this year. I hope he can put on some muscle in the off season.

spurge has plenty of muscle. mass, however, makes that muscle less useful as far as hitting and leverage goes.
he's willing enough but as with Kim Johnsson his strengths lie in stickwork and he should focus on that. IMO.

Lol, i thought this was about Spurgie getting injured, for some reason and then I got super pissed (even more pissed than I was before thanks to our shiity play the latest games) but then I got back to being only pissed.
Spugie is one of the few d men as of lately that has been almost decent..

I just wish I didnt have to cringe every time I see him on the point on the powerplay. Other than that I dont really notice him, which makes me happy with him. Or as happy as I can be with anyone on this team lately. About the only person I am happy with lately is Yeo, who shares my anger.

Not a big fan of the little guy at the beginning of the season, but right now i got to admit, he is by far our best D offensive/defensive speaking. Always in a good position and even not physical as expected, he is very smart in his own end.

Tbh, at this point i'm giving credit for any defenseman who look up and stay calm to clear the damn puck and just dont try clear it with a weak "backhand".

Spurgeon followed by Lundin are both my favourite Wild dmen. I haven't seen Lundin except once in Minnesota but liked him in TB...both have good puck mobility and make nice simple plays without using the body much which I'm a huge fan of as a guy who's not good at using size to play defence. Although Spurgeon probably has much higher offensive upside than Lundin...it's tough for guys like this though to get a shot.

He was drafted in 08...same year as Bogosian/Del Zotto/Sbisa and all three of them struggled but got lots of chances as 1st rounders. Spurgeon on the other hand really had to earn it when you think about it which speaks for itself.

I think our luck started to turn for the worse the instant we started getting decent media attention.

But yeah, this one was pretty much a guaranteed jinx.

I've been saying that Wild players are just going to keep getting concussed until Shanahan nuts up and makes an example of a dirty hit along the boards. Just keeps happening.

Nothing tonight.

I really hope we get an update tomorrow. He won't play in Nashville for sure.

Didn't get to see the game (though I watched Fel's yt of the hit) and all I can say is, what did Shanahan expect? He's allowed that same hit to go unpunished how many times since the Winnipeg game? Of course guys are going to keep doing it. The proper punishment is 5 games + Shanahan's job.

Was there an update on what Spurgeon's injury actually is?

Yah, doesn't look like a concussion. Probably a broken bone somewhere... Let's hope it's not as serious as that Fedun injury...

According to @bloodstrib it's a lower body injury. He has a doctor's appointment to have it looked at but Yeo does not expect it to be a long-term injury.
