That has to be some sort of record.

Couldn't catch the game (first one I've missed all season!) BUT was pretty pumped to read that Hagelin and MDZ led the way offensively. How was Bickel/did he get hurt or something?

Got in a fight early which lead to a swollen face. PLayed another simple, effective game IMO

I said before the season (I should point out that this was before we learnt of the full extent of Staal's injury) that if everything worked this year the best case scenario would be a record of

50-25-7

107 points. Probably good for home ice advantage.

If we keep this up, I believe we could tag it.

We'll surpass that if we keep playing as we are now.

50 wins would just be heavenly. Been 18 years since this team's last 50 win season.

The real 3 stars was perfect. Honorable mention to a bunch of guys, but especially Stralman. Played a heck of a game.

Del Zotto was outstanding. Real skilled plays without sacrificing much defensively.

He got jumped by Haley and got hit with a good right before he was fully ready. Haley got 17 mins and didn't see the ice the rest of the night.

Drew Brees set the NFL record for yards in a season tonight; I bet that gets priority, even in our market.

Haley broke his hand.

I dunno what's worse, breaking your hand, or having someone break their hand against your face.

I suppose we could ask Aaron Voros, as in all likelihood he has done both.

I actually thought this was one of our poorest efforts in a win this season. They turned it on in the third, but we were significantly outplayed by a pretty ****** Isles team for large chunks of the second, and were unable to generate many quality scoring chances for most of the first two periods.

Passes weren't crisp, our guys seemed very sluggish in their own zone, and I thought Richards in particular was very disappointing.

Don't get me wrong, I still love this team, and I'm sure there was an understandable malaise due to coming back after the holiday break, but I just think we were lucky to be playing the Islanders tonight or else we'd all be singing a very different tune.

No worries though, 2 points is 2 points and I have no doubt that this team will come to play on Thursday.

Caught parts of the 1st and most of the 2nd period including Hagelin goal (nice move MDZ) but missed the third. My fan participation was incomplete for this game so I refrained from voting. Glad to come home and find the latest streak of W's lives on.

My 3 starts:
1. Hagelin
2. Bickel (Hes really impressed me)
3.. Lundqvist

Good: The shutout, Hagelin scoring
Bad: Hagelin not getting the trick
Redden: The sloppy play to end the 2nd

My story for www.insidehockey.com will be posted in the morning, on the progression of Michael Del Zotto.

Here's some post-game audio:

Is anyone here ever going to acknowledge that the Rangers seem to be outplayed at times because they play an outstandingly disciplined defensive system and it seems like no one on this team ever breaks their assignment? Seriously... ever player on the ice understands their assignment and sticks to it. That is an element of a successful hockey team. There are plenty of sequences where the opposing team seems to carry play in the Rangers' zone, but if you can find me a team that blocks more shots and disrupts the oppositions' offense more than the Rangers, I'd love to see it.

It's 34 games into the season, the Rangers have been outshot in a vast majority of their games, and they still sit as the top team in the Eastern Conference. Can you guys please realize at some point that overwhelming offensive zone pressure is not the cornerstone of this teams' success? Rather it is a combination of a superior defensive system, unmatched work ethic, world class goaltending, and a wonderfully skilled and unrelenting offensive attack that fuels this team.

I would say that's a pretty good equation for success and just because other teams might spend some time in our zone I'm not gonna crap all over what is currently one of the top 3 teams in the NHL.

3 stars are perfect, but honorable mention to Boyle on a great game. Threw his body all around, blocking big shots.
