You NEVER know with Holmgren! They traded Carter and Richards!
He knew that the team needed a solid goalie and I'm sure he know that he has to improve the defense. Matt Read has been great this season, so they will not miss JvR that much.
I would not trade JJ at this time. Voynov has only played a limited amount of games and while he has played pretty good offensively, lately his defensive game has been lacking a great deal. Tonight's game he wasn't that great defensively and the same goes the last few games. He needs more time to develop that part of his game, before you trade JJ and slot him in his slot. JJ's plus/minus would be better if the Kings scored more 5 on 5 goals. Tonight they scored 4 and he was a plus 1.

To be fair though, if the Kings gave up less 5-on-5 goals when JJ was on the ice, his plus/minus would be better as well. That is the whole point of the plus/minus stat. The Kings are near the top of the league in goals against, yet his plus/minus sucks, not just this year, but every year.
Voynov is ready to take over if they were to trade JJ. But I really don't think DL will trade him though. He just signed that great extension and he is considered core in my opinion.
On JVR being mentioned in trade rumors and that he has not been consistent this year, some of that might be due to injury. This is from today and Seravalli works for the Phila Daily News covering the team
•Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News: Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen has been dealing with chronic back pain. Forward James van Riemsdyk is said to have a “cam impingement in his hip” and a ‘banged up” knee. Sources say that he could require offseason surgery on the hip. Daniel Briere expects to be able to go tonight.
Not sure if Deano would pull that trigger if the kid can't be 100% this year.
Esp if you can package JJ with another player and/or prospect and get a top 6 , established winger, someting JVR is not and has not been in his 3 years.
Tell me what I don't know. That's why I posted. To get opinions.
In your opinion, why is this a bad idea? What is it about Radulov that is poisonous? Is he a bad player? Over-rated? Is he a bad person? Is it the whole abandoning Nashville for the KHL thing? Is it the different takes on his ELC contract status versus what is or isn't in his Ufa contract? Is he just another lazy russki ?

Didn't mean to be so brusque. Abandoning the NHL for the KHL is just a big no-no. You don't trust anyone like that. KHL has most definitely softened him up even more than when he played for Nashville...I don't think he would have any positive impact in our system.
How about JJ, Bernier Loktionov (Williams?)plus a 1st for Parise?
If not Parise, then how about Iginla?
We need someone who will shoot on the wing.
WAY TO MUCH for a rental Parise. DL makes a move along these lines, fire him. you don't trade away that many assets for 50+ games of ZP before he goes FA status.
Iginla, to old, to much $ and anything sent to CAL for a 36-year old forward makes no sense for the long term

Radulov is out of question, can't believe we are even discussing it here. The guy went AWOL in Russia, too. He didn't even ASK for permission to play in some charity event and later missed league game. That guy is nothing but trouble, his head is an empty shell. Not to mention that he got fat in Russia, lack of professionalism is evident on so many levels.

Fair enough.
Russians are a gamble. Their players also have pressures and motives pressed on them that aren't always so easily explained by "cultural differences" or "contractual obligations". He just seems like an intriguing player....

He may seem crazy. He's also leading the league in offensive stats.
How about the "reduced concussion risk angle" ? You in?
I'm changing my statement to "His head consists of basic nervous system only: sleeping, keeping the heart beat, breathing and digestion of food and vodka." So I would still have to pass. I think Lombardi would rather hang himself than sign a contract with Radulov.

His talent would certainly be welcome; I don't think anyone's disputing that. What isn't welcome is his apparent lack of commitment to the NHL.

I was looking for more details about him.
Dude he breached a contract with the NHL to go to Russia. And he WAS getting playing time in Nash....what does that say about him? He is a primadonna Russian who turned his back on the NHL.
