Garth Murray?

What's the story with him? Montreal got him for Hossa, but he's been in Hamilton until recently. He was just callled up and only got a couple minutes of ice, but hammered Vishnovski of the Ducks on his first shift. Very impressive.

What are his shortcomings? I see him as an excellent fourth line energy guy....am I wrong?

Yep that's his role. 4th line plugger.

Why must we have a thread every time some ex-Ranger (especially one who hardly played for us) does something?

What you see is what you get. Plays hard every shift, hits hard , will drop the gloves if challenged. Can play wing or center. Decent skater, and well liked by teammates. Shortcomings? HANDS OF STONE!! .My Projection? 4th liner -AHL regular.

In his defense, he wasn't coming here to let you guys know he hammered an opposing player...just wanted to get a better read on him, he was called up, but only played 2 mins. some fans would just like to know what he can bring to the team.

My bad. I didn't realize it was a Habs fan posting. I assumed it was another Ranger fan making a post about an ex-Ranger doing something positive and implying "Hmm should we have traded him after all?" which I see far too much of. My mistake.

You've never been on the Habs board have you?

That's a Habs board staple

I honestly think Murray would do a much better job as the 2nd line right wing than Hossa.

He's a heart and soul player. Very team oriented. At the start of his first year in the AHL he tore a muscle in his abdominal wall on one side and kept on playing. And then he tore it on the other side and kept on playing. The Rangers medical staff didn't find out until the off season. I mean---he's tough. He'll fight. An average skater. I thought he would be able to produce better than he has. Could have turned out something like Arron Asham has. That first pro season seems to have undone his offensive creativity. Now you have pretty much a 4th line grinder and I don't know if you can expect much more.

Heaven forbid, but maybe some of us are interested.

Doesn't make us seditionists.
