Yeah, the Habs have so much dmen that can play on the PK but not on the PP.

I'd rather trade Campoli for a pick or prospect.

I think he's been fine, this is just like a training camp for the guy who has been injured that long. Another over-reaction by our homer fans. We finally have depth on the blueline.

Trade him at deadline. Adding guys like kaberle make him redundant.

Markov(if healthy)
Subban
Gorges
Weber
Emelin
Diaz
Kaberle

is already 7 nhl d-man. Add in call ups like st denis and nash and we're fine. I'd trade gill at deadline as well.

You do know we're winless with him in the line-up?
You do know that coming off his injury he was directly responsible for 3 GWG?
After that he was a -3?

He's horrific. He brings nothing to this blueline.

Should the Habs make the PO's (something many HFer's do not want), Gill is needed.

Campoli is the extra guy here. Bench him.

Agreed with previous posters that his major errors cost this fragile team dearly.

Really, that's the big argument? As if Gorges, Gill, Kaberle and Diaz haven't been brutal? You are singling out Campoli out of this group of misfits? Campoli will be fine, he's a solid defender who hasn't found his groove yet.

There's no use to trade him now. It's better to keep him around until the trade deadline and evaluate things then.

I said it before and I'll say it again. The best thing this bum ever did for us was get injured in game one. Let him suck for somebody else I say.

Campoli is serviceable but is not needed on this team. I'd rather see Diaz and Weber get his icetime; both of whom have been less prone to error, especially the former. I'd trade Campoli for a skilled enforcer type player (downie, parros for example) since no team would give away a draft pick to add his salary to the payroll. I still don't understand what Gauthier was thinking by picking up Campoli.
Realizing Markov will be out longer than expected, Gauthier signs Campoli. Then, a day before Campoli is ready for action, Gauthier trades for Kaberle and adds 4million to next year's payroll. Why pick up Campoli if you never have the confidence to give him a chance at quarterbacking the powerplay?

Can't argue that Campoli's screw-ups cost us, but the same can be said for every one of our defensemen in the early part of the season. This is Campoli's early season. If the Campoli we're seeing now is the same Campoli we see in February, then I'll hop off his bandwagon. But I'm hoping more people jump onto it long before then.

I still can't understand why people refuse to see all of Gill's screw-ups!!! The guy gets caught out of position at least 5 times a game. Last night against Ottawa, Gill caused the first goal because he was standing around and not watching his man.

I agree....Campoli wouldn't be a bad player to trade if the return is good, but Gill would be the next player I would trade if I were the Habs and give his icetime to Emelin....at least Emelin will throw a body check.

When he gets out of montreal, he'll be a better player, book it!!

Yeah, I know Campoli can play better than he has, and we cannot underestimate the impact of no training camp, and only 2 exhibition games, then the tearing of his hamstring in the first period of the season.

Only White and markov have played less than campoli this year and just barely. Whenever markov comes back, I hope people are aware that he's gonna struggle for a chunk of games too.

Yeah, campoli has had his fair share of screw ups leading to goals, but lets be honest, he's not the only one. Our beloved subban is on that list too.

He's going to really have to pick up his game or he's going to be out of the NHL.

That's not true, and you know it. His salary was the sticking point, PG bit and others did not. 29 other teams would have taken him if they agreed on what he was worth.

As is the case in Montreal, we tend to overpay big time... it's just something ownership seems to have no problem with for some reason.

Didn't like the signing at the time, and still don't. Campoli stinks.

I think your facts are screwed up. He went to arbitration with Chicago and was awarded 2.5 mil, Chicago decided to walk away so he became a UFA very late in the summer. That limited his market of teams since a lot of teams had already signed d-men or used cap room on other players. 3 or 4 teams incluyding the Habs made him an offer. If there was no market he would have gone a lot cheaper than 1.75 mil. Why would Chicago even take him to arbitration if he sucks as you suggest?

Plus he was traded for a 2nd rounder to Chicago about 10 months ago, I doubt he suddenly lost all his skill.

People love to use a small amount of data and make large conclusions.

Must be why he was playing 20+ minutes a night when the team was playing some of it's best hockey of the season.

At least, take either Zanon or Zidlicky. Both players suck anyways..
