He was dominate in the corners, but Danes program is still not there yet so hard to say whether that was his development or just the weakness of the Denmark team. The hit on Gravel looked like a solid bodycheck to me, was it that bad? I was a little far up to see if the elbow was up or it was to the head.
I don't think it was that bad. It looked like a glancing blow to the head, but definitely not dirty.

It would appear that SVK/SUI and FIN/CZE are the de-facto 3rd place games in each group.

Watched a bit of the USA-Denmark game last night, all I can say is wow the Danes are outclassed. The USA ran away with it, but Gravel and Fobort looked decent, but hard to tell in a blow out.

Gibson on the other hand looked shaky in the Canada-Finland game. I don't see him at this point as a future NHL starter. I'll be able to tell in person a bit more when I head up on Friday to see Denmark-Finland. Of course, that game could be like an ECHL vs. NHL game, so I'm not sure its a good scouting opportunity.

There is literally no point in assessing Gibson's game against Canada; Finland's D was so bad - Gibson had no chance on most of them.

Watched the first 2 periods of CZE-DEN, really not impressed with the Czechs. I fully expect USA and Canada to roll into new years eve having won all 3 games decisively.

you just missed a really good 3rd by the czech's in which they took it to an even higher level of dominance. I know the danes don't have the program like everyone else yet but the czech's were flying. they are going to stay in those game right to the end regardless of the score.

Think of it this way. If Gibson stops both of those goals in the 1st it's a completely different game in the second and he is probably still focused enough to stop two of the next three he let in... Remember the same thing happened when he was put into the prospects game in the 3rd period. You can take a lot away from this game as far as Gibson goes. He still has issues with losing his confidence and maintaining his focus after he gives up a couple goals and he starts letting in soft goals at that point. His biggest flaw right now is mental and hopefully he builds in that area and he gets stronger with age. But to say you can't take anything away from this game is untrue, since had he made some of those saves and stood on his head we'd all be hailing him as the next big thing right now.

Finland and USA going at it now. The dman pairing of Trouba and Forbort looks solid.

The US team looks lazy and lethargic tonight. Guess they blew their wad against Denmark.

Forbort having a strong defensive game. Future Hal Gill in the making perhaps?

And just as I post that, Forbort turns over the puck, gets flat footed and Finland scores to jump ahead. Doh!

Just looked really awful on a bad dump in on the 2nd FIN goal.

FIN just made it 3-1, wow. Aittokallio should be player of the game for the Finns.

This is all on Gibson taking that stupid penalty. ****in Duck.

EDIT: Gibson should fit right in with the current Duck goaltenders. 4-1.

Forbort was simply outworked by Armia on the 4th again. He was big and physically dominate for the US versus DEN, but he has been really struggling today.

Gotta question the coaches decision to start Campbell versus DEN then Gibson versus FIN. That should have been the other way around (or Campbell both, despite Campbell's very average game vs DEN).

Hopefully Canada wins by at least 3 tonight. Get USA back into 2nd on Goal Differential.

I haven't had the chance to see him play myself but it seems like every time I read something about Forbort it involves him messing up defensively. Disappointing.

Forbort struggled today but he wasn't terrible. The 2nd goal was completely his fault. The only other bad thing I can think of is when he got outworked before Gibson let in that terribad goal. Forbort definitely has work to do, but he wasn't the reason the US lost today.

He seemed to be doing ok, nothing too impressive, just using his long reach to cut off passes and make defensive plays, until the puck came to his stick and he turned it over and got caught on Finland's second goal. After that he (along with the rest of the team) was a mess. Etem played like horse manure as well.

Thats because anytime you read about the WJC somebody is blasting the defense or the goaltending (see earlier in the thread)....its the nature of youth hockey for it to be high scoring games.

Not specifically referring to the WJC. Feels like I've been reading the same thing from just about every time someone posted about him playing college hockey.
