Blake Evans to the Oilers

Oilers obtain Blake Evans from St. Louis

The Edmonton Oilers have obtained forward Blake Evans from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for future considerations.
The 6’1”, 210-pound native of Smiley, Saskatchewan is currently with the Peoria Rivermen and will remain with the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate.

I rushed in here thinking there was another blockbuster move and that Edmonton's defence would be looking mighty fine. You got me.

So the Oilers get him in a trade, but he stays with the Blues minor league team?

Oilers don't have an AHL team.

Finally, all the merged threads and endless speculation that came with the Blake Evans lottery can be put to rest. Once again, the Oilers have disappointed 28 other teams

Now we can have the Smiley Melville Saskatchewan line, featuring Blake Evans & Jarret Stoll. Now we need to add another funny sounding Saskatchewan place name to complete the line.

Make that 29 teams - even the Blues were disappointed that they had to give the guy up!

Is this a prelude to Edmotnon trading a goalie to St. Louis?

I've played hockey with Blake; he's a good guy. I thought the Blues might have given him a look-see this year right after training camp. Maybe he'll get his shot in Edmonton. He deserves at least a game or two. He'll never become anything more than a 3rd/4th liner, but I think he's paid his dues to at least be given that opportunity. For a good chunk of last season he was Worcester's best player...
