No, I like to see fights that are real and out of anger, like McQuaides, than fake side shows.
It doesn't work like that. Players don't want to kill (or injure) each other hence the code. Without it you would have "Don Sanderson" incidents where guys lose their life at 21.
Look i'm all for fighting in the league. My son who plays in the Dub fights occasionally. But there is a line to be drawn. When you have a guy down you stop. There is no point in risking serious injury. Afterall, its supposed to be a game - and for some a living.
Some might say - well then don't drop the gloves. But in this game, often times you aren't given a choice due to the pressure from coaches and the expectations (to defend yourself and / or your teammate).
If the "code" didn't exist then this sport would be in jeapardy. Those who love to watch fighting would have to resort to boxing/UFC.
No problem with this beatdown as it was deserved. However, i don't like to see players continue to throw punches when the player is down. For some reason, the Bruins always resort to those types of classless and cheap tactics.
I wonder if Habs fans fantasize of having a team that would defend a teamate after a cheap shot?
