With Jagr signing. I just calculated that Paul Holmgren face-spit Pittsburgh fan is worth roughly $20 (give or take 3.50) .

Actually, many Pens fans are very disappointed with Kennedy's play this year (he has had a concussion as you noted--like everyone else it seems). He was/is expected to pot 20 a year (no reason to think he can't) and he does bring some energy to rink. Also, although Max was a healthy scratch a few times last year and didn't have a great year, most of us hated to see him go--he was a favorite here as you know. Good for him to get a better deal than GMRS offered. I hope he is well received tonight.

I do also think the Jagr thing is embarrassingly overblown; we would have loved to have him again, but it didn't work out (the Pens really didn't have the cap space and had a few more roster slots to fill). Good move by Holmgren, seems to be working out OK.

And, yes, he will get booed tonight and it will detract from what promises to be an awesome game. I fully expect 71 and Giroux to demonstrate why they deserve to be on top of the scoring heap--and that's what people should be talking about, there's a lot of talent on these two teams and they're fighting for supremacy in the East. Should be great!

Enjoy the game boys.

The old saying “You can never go home again” may just apply to Philadelphia Flyers’ forwards Jaromir Jagr and Max Talbot as the team heads to Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins tonight at CONSOL Energy Center.

Both Jagr and Talbot have experienced the biggest successes in their respective NHL careers in the ‘Burgh, each having been a part of a Stanley Cup championship Pens squad. The pair were key pieces in all three Penguins’ Cup victories over two different generations — – Jagr in both 1991 and 1992, and Talbot in 2009 — but both will likely feel the unbridled wrath of the Pittsburgh faithful, beginning when they come out to take part in the pre-game skate.

I disagree as a Pens fan. I take Kennedy even now over Talbot, and at the time Jagr was still a 39 year old wild car, albeit a skilled wild card, and Kennedy is coming off of a career year.

That being said they had the room to offer Jagr more and just didn't. That is what I'm disappointed about. I knew Jagr would flourish in Philly or Pitt, even as a wildcard. The issue was could he sustain it through the playoffs.

Obviously Jagr was never going to take $2mill per. It was a slap in the face. So, in a sense it WAS about more money, even though he wasn't offered the most from Philly. It was still $1.3 mill more, which is a respect issue. Philly just respected Jagr more, and it is paying off.

Kennedy is really coming on, and is back to his form of a year ago. Whatever, hopefully I don't have to deal with another loss on 24/7 next week.

yes, 2mil was too low, but it wasn't the only thing. But ppl tend to look at money only while Jagr didn't

But being physically dominated by the pens would be something I couldn't stomach. Even tho it'll just be Asham and Cooke to worry about.

I hope we see Schenn playing C with Voracek and JVR. I'd like to have Talbot moved to the RW slot with Zolnierczyk (LW) and Couturier (C). Talbot has been great at C so far this year, but I think we need to get Schenn going.

Hartnell - Giroux - Jagr
Read/JVR - Briere - Simmonds/Voracek
JVR/Read - Schenn - Voracek/Simmonds
Zolnierczyk - Couturier - Talbot

Honestly I would love to see Sestito on 4th line. Nothing against Zolnierczyk or Rinaldo but I thought Sestito really controlled the game and created several scoring chances.

Sestito Couturier Talbot would be cool.
