This is why I only mentioned the idea of bringing up Immonen and Pock.
I'm sure a better player can be had.
Take the recent rumor of Nieminen/Hossa for Sykora for example.
Granted it's only a rumor but that's a deal that I would do.
Do you think trading Nieminen/Hossa for Sykora while bringing up at least Immonen would be an improvement?

Forget I asked.
My intention with the post was to get a discussion going not to get perssonal. Don't take it any other way.
I'm not one of the kiddies around here, I'm seeking some good discussion. lol.

Sorry, if you didn't catch the humor in that staement...I meant it as a double entrendre - you asked how it it works - I said that was personal...I didn't put a smiley because I'm still obeying Sgt' Davisian's rules about smileys.

Don't you think being a lock for the Post-season is much different from being a lock for the Finals?

I totally agree, especially if they get Sykora and his game is where it should be.

The board itself doesn't - Sgt. Davisian does...and some of us here think of Sgt. Davisian as our big toe. And, yes, we're cool.

what are Nieminen and Potis contract status like. i think its inevitable that if the rangers contend for the playoffs they might consider bringing leetch back since the bruins are garbage... it is good to see the rangers putting it together this year... congrats...

It is Sgt. Hulka but remember him and Uncle Sam are one in the same.

I LOVE that movie. Bill Murray's apex IMO, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Scrooged.

I have not really paid attention today due to deadlines. However, the movie was Sgt Bilko with BILL Murray which was originally a series with Phil SILVERS IN THE 1950"S. DO I DATE MYSELF? FURTHER I AGREE ON THE REBUILD PHILOSOPHY. DO YOU THEN TRADE JAGR FOR HIGH END YOUNG TALENT AT THE DEADLINE?

Exactly. The scene where he compares himself to Uncle Sam results in Murray saying "Uncle Hulka?".

IMO, if this is a "true rebuild", then if a team wants to offer a return that is akin to what Quebec got for Lindros or Dallas got for Walker, you would have to take it. Jagr represents the proverbial player that teams refere to as being "one player away". If you can get not only more draft picks, but several high-end prospects (and here I mean very high-end), it would be hard to turn down. Jagr at his price tag could bring a bounty that would equal what Lindros and Walker brought back.

IMO - three funniest movies of all time...Caddyshack, Stripes and Animal House. There are just too many lines that I can recite from those movies.

You lost me on that one. The Hulka line was from Stripes.

As for the second part, I believe you're asking if I would trade Jagr?

The answer is yes, if someone made a very good offer. I'm not necessarily looking to move Jagr, but I believe for the long run the team benefits more if you get good, young players.

I think Jagr contributes to the short term success of the team, but he'll be 34 in about 8 weeks and I'm not sure if he's worth more over the long haul compared to a pair of younger players (or however many).

Really it depends on the deal.
