He's at least entertaining. That's more than I can say for the rest of this group.

They're great. I'm a big fan of hip checks and it's nice to see him do it in a Habs jersey after watching him play for years in Russia.

Hopefully we can get Emelin signed for 2-3 years. I really like his physical element and I think offensively he has more to offer than his stats show. He makes a very good first pass and has a knack for knowing when to jump in on offense. He should definitely be in the #3-4-5 mix for next year.

This kid is fun to watch...we have very few bright spots the way we are playing this year, but glad he is one of them....

He is fun to watch, but I hoped he would be better. Maybe he's still not playing his best, but right now he's a #6-#7 dman.

i don't understand why there aren't more NHL players doing hipchecks in open ice. probably a 'safer' way to hit somebody as far as concussions go

For loads of reasons:

a) Leaves the hitter vulnerable and immobile
b) Lots of ways that the hit will not be successful
c) Penalty for low-bridging if performed incorrectly
d) Penalty for obstruction if ill-timed

Not sure what you're watching but he is playing at a #3-4-5 level. His biggest problem is he is a rookie and has to carry Gill.

He's playing with Kaberle, Diaz is playing with Gill

It's a shame Pierre Gauthier screwed up on defense. Emellin was the best D-man on his team in the KHL. Yet the Habs continue to exploit his talents and instead go get Campoli and Kaberle. I was sad to see Diaz play instead of Emelin, but Diaz is playing very well so I can't say it was a bad choice. But Webber seems to have hit a plateau and as far as I'm concerned, Campoli was brought in because they didn't trust Emelin and Kaberle was brought in because the PP sucked. How much time does Emelin get on the PP? Why not try the players on your roster before going out to get a pp specialist with a horrible contract who hasn't done much help this team win since he got to Montreal?

This organization has me pulling my hair! So many bad decisions.. It's sad to watch..

But at least they are still giving Emelin some ice time and he gets a chance to at least showcase his physical side...

I love his lateral skating. He's very smooth. It was on display during that hipcheck on msl.

Unlike other big hitters, emelin seems to pick his spots really well. When he hits you in open ice, its not to the detriment of the team, and that's what separates him from other young bruisers.

It's crazy that he's got only one assist so far. He has a great first pass and he has some offensive swag at times. Not bad of a slapshot also.

OK I was wrong earlier this year when I said there was nothing entertaining on this team and that I wasn't excited about any player.Emelin is definitely entertaining and will pretty much be the reason I'm watching the games from now on hoping for an open ice hit. He's magnificient. To think some people actually want to bench him and still believe in playoff hope =

He's my favourite. Will buy a jersey if he is re-signed.

If they don't re-sign this guy they are definitely trolling us since 93.Finally some toughness , finally some aggressivity , who cares if he doesn't fight , players will finally get nervous entering our zone and the fans will finally have something to be entertained with.

The guy is so fun to watch. He delivers a hit, then looks so innocent like nothing happened, it is almost cute.

If he doesn't stay here, the only reason would be because he wants to go back to the KHL, and I don't see that happening.

He could have stayed in Russia and made a nice career for himself there. He came over here looking for a challenge and hopefully he's happy because he's exactly the type of guy we need to keep. He's our Volchenkov. Now we need to get him signed to a 3 year/7M contract or something like that. If there's a pattern we've noticed from all the recent cup champions it's that they have good players on cheap contracts. I think Emelin can be one of those players if we play our cards right.

You wouldn't know it, but behind these boyish good looks and chap lips is the most vicious thing to come out of Russia since Ivan Drago.

Dolph Lundgren is Swedish. I find it funny that a character that everyone sees as a symbol for Russian power is not actually Russian!
