My thoughts exactly, which is why right when I got the email that I bought my tickets. It will be a fun experience for me and my son.

They don't charge $60 to skate at Rockafeller center, and they don't charge $60 to skate on the Rideau Canal. I don't mind paying a premium, $20 is nearly 3 times what a public skate would typically cost, but $120 for me and my gf to skate for an hour is not worth it to me. It's great that they sold out the slots and I hope that everyone that bought tickets has a wonderful time.

Just something a little creepy about it. Like those notes in horror movies/soap operas that are made up of letters cut out of various magazines/newspapers and glued on a piece of paper.

You are comparing apples to oranges. You can skate every year at Rockefeller Center and it's open every day in the winter. The WC rink will be open to the public for 4 sessions total.

Its just like the concept of the playoff tickets.

They keep them a certain price year round and as soon as the playoffs start, they jack the prices up 5x the amount of a season ticket so the average fan that supported them the whole year can't go. Its criminal.

I got tickets for that public skate too. There aren't too many opportunities for something like that. I can't wait.

I placed similar remarks in the Alumni sticky but since this thread gets more traffic, I'll place it here, too.

Members of the media arrived at Citizens Bank Park on Friday prepared to skate in the media's own winter classic at noon. However, because of warm temperatures and direct sunlight on the ice, the media's game was pushed to 2 p.m.

Could the same thing happen Saturday at the Winter Classic Alumni game?

It could happen.

The forecast for Saturday around 1 p.m., when the alumni game is supposed to start, is calling for temperatures in the low 50s with some sun.

NHL sources say that if conditions on Saturday are like the ones on Friday, the alumni game could be pushed back later in the day.

The media skate and game on Friday at Citizens Bank Park were moved back a few hours because the sun and warm temperatures were causing havoc with the ice.

It is supposed to be colder on Monday, so the Winter Classic is expected to start on time. For now.

The parking lot is huge. The sports complex is made to accomodate a baseball, hockey, and football game theoretically on the same night... Trust me, you'll find parking.

I wish this game was on at night so everyone could see it. It seems like a 50/50 split of people getting Dec 30 or Jan 2 off. If they move it to 2 pm I can see it, 1 pm means I'll miss the first hour.

Why does New Years day have to be on a Sunday this year(damn nfl and your viewership)? If it werent for this I would be going to Winter Classic. But the good new is that Im going to San Diego on Monday. I will be DVRing the game and I will not watch it until I get back. Everyone who is going to the game have fun.
