we're playing chicago, trying to maneuver for the division. Playing it safe makes all the sense in the world. If someone jumps out to a big lead, where playing the kids more/mixing the lines makes sense, then do it. Maybe we work them in more against St. Louis, especially since we'll be home for that one.

Hopefully Babs put Nyquist in the Top 6.

How long is Homer out for? Was he put on short term or long term IR.

I wonder who they keep between Gus and Andersson when Helm's back.

Neither. When Helm is back, Mursak(and probably Homer) will also be ready and they will send them both down.

Nyquist on the fourth line? Come on....

Drop Bert back, give Nyquist to Datsyuk.

Nyquist-Datsyuk-Franzen
Filppula-Zetterberg-Hudler
Cleary-Abby-Miller
Bert-Emmerton-Andersson

Really sucks to lose Helm, but losing a 3rd line center is no reason to mess with the top 6......unless your utilizing Filppula as the 3rd center....not a bad idea short term actually.

Bert actually showed up, it's Franzen that needs the kick in the pants. It's frustrating to watch Nyquist play with guys like Emmerton and Andersson. They're fine as roster fill, but Nyquist has legit talent and there's not much he can do at the NHL level with those two on the ice.

Bertuzzi's fight and goal off of his ass doesn't excuse his play tonight, he was pretty terrible.

2 shots on goal with only ~6mins TOI is decent start I would say.

Why the hell doesn't he go to the net with the puck? Why doesn't he shoot?
I am sooooo tired of him forcing passes through three defenders and drop passing to the other team.

Nyquist was weak on a couple shifts. Not assertive enough on loose pucks. Waited too long for a pass to him and let a Hawk get there first for a good 10 seconds of pressure in Detroit's zone.

On the other hand, he had two nice moves where he took the puck from the boards to the middle for nice shots.

Seriously though, this kid looks tiny. I wish he'd come to GR last year so he'd have a year's worth of pro bulk on him.

Abdelkader 2 games as 3rd line center = 2 goals.

Abdelkader 36 games as 3rd line winger or 4th line center = 2 goals.

Maybe we should put Helm to the 4th?

What fight? Looked like Bert was trying to slowdance.

It is definitely a good thing he stayed in college. College programs usually have really strong weight training programs and it is so much easier to dedicate time to training playing 40 games a year compared to the 75+ he would have played in the AHL.

He's the same height as dats and Z and 12lbs lighter, he'll fill out and get stronger on his skates in time. He's only 22.

You can see Gus has tremendous skill, looks very dangerous in the offensive zone. He looks tiny though, needs to spend next summer locked in the weights room. Definite top 6 potential though for sure.
