The sun is causing problems?

Meanwhile, we've already determined that if the Winter Classic itself is postponed, it will be moved to the next day, not later that night.

Brilliance.

Time out. Did they decide a time if they end up moving the Classic to Tuesday?

I placed similar remarks in the Winter Classic sticky:

CSN:

http://www.csnphilly.com/blog/flyers...7220533519-711

Quote:
Members of the media arrived at Citizens Bank Park on Friday prepared to skate in the media's own winter classic at noon. However, because of warm temperatures and direct sunlight on the ice, the media's game was pushed to 2 p.m.

Could the same thing happen Saturday at the Winter Classic Alumni game?

It could happen.

The forecast for Saturday around 1 p.m., when the alumni game is supposed to start, is calling for temperatures in the low 50s with some sun.

NHL sources say that if conditions on Saturday are like the ones on Friday, the alumni game could be pushed back later in the day.
Philadelphia Inquirer:

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/...#ixzz1i2jL8yPD

Quote:
The media skate and game on Friday at Citizens Bank Park were moved back a few hours because the sun and warm temperatures were causing havoc with the ice.

It is supposed to be colder on Monday, so the Winter Classic is expected to start on time. For now.

I didn't see an exact time, but if it has to be postponed, they're just moving it back a whole day. Somehow, a Monday Night time slot (vs. Bowls) is less desirable than Tuesday afternoon when everyone is back at work.

does anyone know if this is being broadcasted in Canada? Will it be streamed on nhl.com like the game last year?

I looked around a bit and just saw the same info, it would just be moved to Tuesday but no time announced. I would hope they would be smart enough to move it to Tuesday night, not the afternoon. I am pretty sure they would be the only special thing on Tuesday night prime time. As you mentioned almost everyone is back to work on Tuesday, so the afternoon time slot is worthless.

Television:
  • Versus, CBC and CSN Philly will air the game live.
  • MSG was scheduled to broadcast a tape delay version at 4 p.m. in the New York market. That was before the recent time change.

This release was issued prior to the time change from 1:00 p.m. ET to 3:00 p.m. ET.

RANGERS PLACE AVERY ON WAIVERS FOR SECOND TIME

It also means Avery won't be part of the Winter Classic, which will see the Rangers face the Flyers at Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park on Jan. 2.

I guess Chris couldn't get out of his radio broadcast duties for the day

I heard (per Morganti on WIP) that he will also have an IFB earpiece so that he can actually hear Saunders and Morganti and have conversations. I'm sure that'll be great when Tim and Al are poking fun at him for falling down, missing passes, whiffing on shots, etc.
