If we were going to dish out those kind of assets, I would rather go after someone like Nash over Staal.

Yeah, unless Staal is as good of a wing as center, then I'd rather get Nash.

I love Nash but I just have a bad feeling about trading for him. I just know that he'd end up going on a huge scoreless streak.

Personally I'm not a big fan of shelling out 7.8 per for a winger, even if it's Rick Nash.

Especially one that is as over rated as Nash.

And Staal's getting over 8....but there are other teams that might be sellers, like the Islanders.
Maybe they part with Matt Moulson.. or maybe Ruutu from the Canes...
As much as I 'd love Iginla, not just for scoring but one o fthe best leaders in the game who speaks out in the locker room and isn't satisifed with OT losses or even bad wins. This team and esp the younger leaders, would benefit from him.
But it might cost too much
I have no doubt that DL is trying to get a winger (as much as I'd like one for Richards as well, I can't see two. Richards will have to plod on...).

Why hasn't Williams been put on Richards line yet??? Just about everybody else has nad what would it hurt???

If the Kings need a volunteer to drive Kompton to the airport after he's fired, I'll fly in from Phila...
He needs to go...now...

Quoted for truth. You'd think he was Bobby Hull the way some value him.

Nowhere, I said at the end of the other thread that Carolina is more likely to trade away Staal and do a complete franchise rebuild then some would believe.

A) Because Staal has a huge contract
B) he is playing awful
C) They could get massive return for him in terms of youth/prospects to rebuild the right way.

Just did a quick perusal of lineups (as I've often done this season) to find that elusive scorer that would bring help to our lineup. Who, exactly, is out there? Outside the "regular" name (Parise), I see nothing else worth unloading on.

Which brings me to this question: How would you guys feel about a reclamation project? I noticed MSP is doing HORRID in Edmonton, which could be a combination of ice time and simply being pushed down the depth chart by the likes of RNH etc. I don't follow other team's prospects too much, but is there anyone else like MSP (or MSP himself) that would be worth giving ice time to?

Did you get that mixed up? Are you talking about Magnus-Paajarvi?

Yeah, that guy. I remember his middlelastname kept getting switched by media and forum posters, but MSP stuck with me, so that's how I refer to him.

Magnus Svensson-Paajarvi.

I hate how many names the guy has. No one should abbreviate his name considering he has about 6 that it could be.

To Be Honest...

I really always liked MSP since his draft year. That being said he does get inconsistent in finishing so can be on long scoring droughts. I think this would discourage most Kings fans at this time. But I trully was hoping we could trade for him as the Oils do seem to have alot of young wings. He has excellent speed and descent size I think a nice skill set as well...

Not sure he is a Lombardi type of player as he is skill not a hitter type or such is what I think of him. You really have to admire the young Oilers lots of fine forwards on that team. Fun to keep an eye on their developement!

I wouldn't mind Nash. He is overrated, but at the same time, he is slightly underrated I think he can do a lot more than what he has done in Columbus, but at the same time, he isn't the superpower he has been made out to be in the past.

His cap hit is high, but so was Brad Richards and that didn't stop us from going after him. It is comparable to Gaborik's and many of us thought Dean should have shelled out for him, who is now on pace for 51 goals. Nash is one of the best power forwards in the game and he guarantees goals. It is hard to imagine him not meshing well with Kopitar.

Sportscenter recently did their top 10 most talented active players today list and Nash was #5 (means nothing, but the player praise is notable enough):

Lame HF doesn't allow certain time frames on videos.
Nash is 8 minutes 21 seconds in. Semin is 6 minutes 56 seconds.

We just need a skilled sniper that can get the job done. Penner is a pseudo-sniper, but he really doesn't have that knack to find the twine that other pure snipers have. Hell, at this point, I wouldn't mind shelling out a small package for Semin. We are keeping elite teams down to 2 or less goals, we just need that extra goal somewhere. Sutter is working on the system, but we need someone with more finish.

I really really wish Bobby Ryan wasn't a Duck, because he would really be ideal :/

If Drew Doughty was going the other way, you bet.

The Kings are never going to get a deal like Richards ever again. I can't believe Philly even did it. That deal literally fell into Dean's lap.

A guy whose only scored 20 goals twice in his entire career?

I'm OK with Ruutu as 2nd/3rd line RW, but he's not someone you can depend on for offense.

two people can turn us into real contenders, and one can be Ruutu. He is a realistic trade who could be aquired for a prospect and pick. Who realistically can fill the last hole? It would have to be high end talant to bump Brown to the 3rd where he re-teams up with Stoll to provide more bottom end scoring and banging. Imagine a Parise, Ryan, Nash

______ - Kopitar - Ruutu
Gagne - Richards - Wiliams
Brown - Stoll - Hunter
Clifford - Fraser - Westgarth
spare - Richard, Lewis

Doughty - Mitchell
Scuderi - Voynov
Martinez - Greene
Drewiski

Quick
_____

That leaves good talant to aquire a top liner

- Johnson - foundation of trade
- Bernier - future #1
- Loktionov - skilled center
- 1st rounder
(This looks like everything that Jersey needs long term doesnt it? just send us Parise and Hedberg).
-Johnson is the only true regular that comes out of the line -up. Brown shores up the bottom 6 and distributes scoring.

other cards with a little value

- Penner
- Richardson
- Drewiske
- picks
- Forbert
- Jones

So I wouldn't laugh Ruutu off, he would be a key piece, but its the other more important piece that sets us up long term. We have the assets, just need the stars to align and Parise to want to sign long term.

Hey I can dream
