Did you bother looking at anything I wrote? I didn't say he should skate away or give the guy flowers.

You're saying he should play differently because of the score.

I know what you mean, but the point remains though, it's not like Kopecky "played tough" on him- he cheapshotted him. A whole different beast than mucking it up and dropping the gloves.

Not suspending Kopecky is going to blow up in the league's face. Just wait until next week.

It is a joke, it reminds me of the Derek Stepan fine for his "elbow" on Mike Green. Didn't think it warranted anything but a fine isn't a big deal so whatever.

What really pisses me off is that Kopecky was fined the SAME amount. What the NHL is basically saying now is that a battle in front is equivalent in discipline to a sucker punch. That is what is disgusting, the league should have given Kopecky more to set a precedent that the sucker punch is unacceptable.

Think about this for a second, if the same battle had happened in front, Del Zotto gets a penalty, and that is the end is there a fine? Nope, but there is a fine because of the retaliation. Its a joke and it is disgusting that they both got the same thing.

Sucker punches have no place in the game and Shanahan didn't really get the point across here.

But the players have such little respect for each other anyway that I doubt they would even get the message if Shanny did suspend Kopecky.

We'll just have to "suspend" Kopecky ourselves when we see him on the 5th

I think we might be a bit biased here. MDZ clearly cross checked Kopecky in the face and no call was made. Sure, Kopecky was out of line with the punch...but it's not like he dropped his gloves. And at the end of the day he got his ass Rupped. So it all worked out just fine. lol

i'm glad it happened.

means we'll bring the intensity next week rather than suffering a post-winter classic slump

Yeah, I'm not upset MDZ was fined. Just bugs me that more prestigious players get away scott free with more. While I'm not familiar with that particular Briere play, he is always getting fined and suspended for non-hockey related slashes and high stickings. I don't know how you turn a blind on him.

I don't think Kopecky deserved a game, but I also don't think the two should've gotten equal fines. Kopecky initiated...and IMO Del Zotto's crosscheck to the face happened half because Kopecky's face was at Del Zotto's waste line when he went for the crosscheck. No biggie though.

i think all the deserved punishment has been doled out...del zotto got punched - luckily he wasn't seriously injured - and kopecky got beat up by rupp. sorted.

Irrelevant franchise is still irrelevant. In before Washington passes them in the second half of the season.

I'm glad Kopecky didn't get suspended. Now he can be there on the 5th when he gets his ass handed to him

Um, no. Watch the overhead replay again. The instant MDZ does that, the ref in the corner puts his arm up.....

which was also what went down into the books "19:52 NYR MICHAEL DEL ZOTTO : HI-STICKING - 2 MIN"

I dont know what you are talking about.
