THE MATCHUP
GAME #37 - 2012 WINTER CLASSIC
Jan 2nd, 2012
@
(23-9-4)
_________ (22-10-4)
3:00 PM ET
CITIZENS BANK PARK - PHILADELPHIA, PA
NBC | CBC | RDS
QUOTES TO NOTE
We were like a bunch of kids who couldn't wait to get out there and play, before our practice today.
- Brian Boyle
It just works out that the first time we play the Flyers in Philly it's outdoors and a big deal. I'm excited about that, and I'm excited it's them we are playing in the Classic.
It was great to feel the wind in my face today, making my eyes blurry, feeling the breeze as I skated. That was neat.
- Brad Richards
I think it's great for our game. It's great for our league, but as a coach I am thinking about one thing: it's a divisional opponent, it's two points, and we want to win the hockey game.
That's all we are concerned about right now. Sure there is hype, but this has been a great experience for us, and our players will be ready to play.
- John Tortorella

I'm so excited. Pissed that the game got moved until 3pm but it's going to be extremely fun and a terrific atmosphere in Philly. Most importantly though, get the 2 points

I think its cool that the game got moved back. By the middle of the 3rd period the sun will be just about down and they'll be under the starts and bright lights. Thats got to be cool for the players.

Will make for great viewing that's for sure.
More importantly it gives us Aussies an extra couple of hours of sleep! 7am is much better than 5

hey i was watching NHLN today and they were showing the Rangers practice. I heard them say McDonagh left because he had flu like symptoms and they said Staal was practicing with his regular d partner Giardi. Any chance Staal makes his return tomorrow?
