Phil Kessel
Patrick Marleau
Joe Pavelski
Marc Savard (but he's injured)
Brad Marchand
Danny Briere
same level as pleks:
Krejci
Phil Kessel hasn't played center in years.
Marleau doesn't play center anymore I think.
Pavelski isn't better than Plekanec.
Savard won't play an NHL game ever again.
Marchand isn't a center in the NHL.
Ok Briere.
Krejci isn't on the same level as Plekanec at all.
A number of players on your other list are not centers (ie Taylor Hall, Franzen, Elias for instance), are not significantly better than Plekanec (Roy, Weiss) or are very unproven (how many Oilers players did you name? seriously you'd think they would be the NHL's top team with so many number one centers). Oh and Grabovski and Jokinen equal to Plekanec? Are you kidding?
If you can't be honest trying to prove a point then perhaps its time to back down.

Lol ..pavelski, Krejci both are two-way players who get more ppg than pleks and are actually playoff performers. Krejci's also younger!
I had up to 40 players on that list so even if you take a few off, I more than proved my point. Marleau, Hall, Franzen are all listed as centers.
Only Kessel from that list doesn't play center often.
Neither does Marchand on the short list. And Pavelski/Marleau play a lot of wing for the Sharks with Thornton, Couture and Handzus down the middle.
On the longer list, Seguin, Hall and Eberle jump out as guys who are wingers at this time in their careers. Pretty sure Skinner and Franzen are as well.
edit: If you're just going by what guys are listed as on NHL.com and other sites, Cammalleri is our 2nd line center. Those are horribly out-of-date everywhere.

All these guys are listed as centers. Just because htey play on the wing because of team strategy, coaching and player personal doesn't make them less of a center.
For example:
A great 2nd #1 goalie on a team is still a #1 goalie even though he doesn't play as a #1 goalie.

So they are number one centers but their teams prefer them at wing? Might that be because they are either completely unresponsible defensively, uncapable of winning a faceoff or that they haven't played center since friggin junior?
Everyone knows NHL.com and many other stats sites have positions wrong. Cammalleri is often listed as center for instance.

Well, considering Taylor Hall has never played center in the NHL, it's kinda ridiculous to say he's a better center than Tomas Plekanec. Most of these listings are based on what position these players were drafted as, not what they're actually used as.
Pleks had a terrible game, but he is not part of the problem. Be thankful we have this guy.
It's amazing how this group of players can execute hockey plays so badly. I can't explain it and it's not "no heart" I see most of them working their butts off but they make the stupidest plays, the softest passes and in general are tentative about everything they do. As much as Cole drives to the net, he also handles the puck poorly and f'd up a lot of scoring chances (if only he had Plek's puck control and Pleks had his size). It's not a matter of trying, just as the French media say, a little bit of, I don't know what
We only have so many options, Gauthier can't make 100 moves because he has 24 million locked up in unmovable contracts. What can he really do?
Gomez - 7.3
Cammy - 6
Gionta - 5
Markov - 5.7
Whoever we bring in will have the same issues. Coaching and useless vets are our biggest problems. I assume RC is interim and we have to just ride out the storm with these gross contracts until they either improve/get healthy or the contract expires.
These contracts are GONE in a paltry 2 years.
People are going to harp about it until the final day of the contract.
Let it go!!!!
When they all expire simultaneously in 2 years fans will be in CAP HEAVEN!!
I read a couple pages back and just like after the TBay game when people were crapping on Price, I see another one of our truly good players being bashed. All those other "better centers" also have better wingers. Pleks has incredible vision and puck control as well as passing. Those other centers are either themselves the goal scorers or when they pass to someone that person scores. As it's been stated, Pleks is on a team of people who can't score. Why is nobody talking about how useless Pacioretty is with his shots from long range, never hitting the net and always losing the puck? He was Plek's linemate yesterday. Cole just goes in and tries to do everything himself and is there's a loose puck he can never get hold of it and doesn't have the hands to make a sweet play. Eller, AK and Plekanec have the best hands on this team. They also give it their all (lot of people will disagree about AK but this season he's been trying every game). I'm more frustrated with the people who can't shoot like NHL players when they get a chance. I would be gutted if we lost Plekanec. One of the best players we drafted since the dark days. One of the best D-fwds in the game and he' getting heat, unbelievable.

The people that want Pleks gone are in the extreme minority.
He is not going anywhere... unless he is packaged for a stunning return.
don't worry, we're going to be playing at .800, I just realized my avatar was dated (Learn Le French...funny how our playoff avys were foreboding). Fixed. Playoffs guaranteed.
First of all, nobody is blaming Plekanec so your last paragraph is completely useless to the discussion.
2nd of all, your link only shows points. Don't tell me you really believe that Plekaenc is a better centerman than Kesler, Richards, Bergeron, Getzlaf, Lecavalier, Staal, Skinner, Roy, Richards, P-M Bouchard, Jordan Staal, etc..etc..

Glad someone else realized it. In the case of Taylor Hall he didn't even play his last year of Junior as a center. Taylor Hall was drafted into the OHL as a center. He's 100% a winger now though.

Truth. People who want pleks moved are probably the ones *****ing about player development and asset management.
...well, developing one of the best defensive centers in the league only to get rid of him as he's in his prime seems like it would be the greatest travesty of asset management since the Roy trade.
There are players who you keep, and players you don't: pleks is a player you keep. End of story.

so in your attempt to make plekanec look bad, you list wingers as centers.
cool. do you know any other cool tricks like that?
not to mention some of those guys clearly are not better than Pleks. Seguin? Please. If he's going to use Seguin's half season to prove he is better he cannot possibly defend his selection of Eric Staal as being better than Pleks as Staal has been downright terrible this year.
Despite all the anger and discussions of firings and the world ending on Dec 21st 2012, I have to believe that all of our struggles are part of the process and amidst all the current storms we will prevail. This team is 100+ years old and it has been great but it has not always been perfect.
Guys I found some more centres that are better than Plekanec.
Zach Parise
Ilya Kovalchuck
Shea Weber
Niklas Lidstrom
Alex Ovechkin
Nail Yakupov
Nathan Mackinnon
Henrik Lundqvist
