My trade thoughts

keepin it simple:

Labarbra back to NYR for Weekes

Why: I don't have faith in Labs, Weekes would be more dependable, more experience. NYR has Lunqvist who has more then won starters role

Roenick to Pitts for Gonchar

Why: We desperatly need a PP Quarterback and dman that can play with Miller or Matty and log the minutes and rush the puck.

Pittsburg is as sick of Gonchar as we are of Roenick and both need a change as well as Roenick hurts my ears. Pitts would have to include a little money in which their fans acknowledge that. We could even throw in Dempsey to get rid of his contract or Armstrong as he is slow.

Robitaille to Retirement for Tambs, Kanko, or any other prospect that may backcheck. We need more speed to compete.

In doing this I think we are solid on Defence, more stable in goal and Robitaille has to go, I love what he did to us but like Messier he is staying around to long.

Pick away felloe Kings fans

Cant see either of these trades happening......NYR are not going to shake up there goaltending now....everything is fine in the big apple. Plus I dont think the Kings problem is in net. I also think if Pit was going to move Gonchar the last player they would want in return is Roenick. they need defensive help just as bad as we do and think that they would want Miller or someone like that more than Dempsey. I would rather go for more defensive defensman like Witt, or Foote and then shop for a forward like Langenbrunner. Heck even Owen Nolan wouldnt be a bad idea.

unless if that cash u listed i $100 million, that is one of the most unrealistic trade proposals ive ever seen......

funky - u on the other hand are a genius...

Pittsburgh is stcuk with Gonchars long contract, no1 is going to give them anything for Gonchar...gettin Roenick is really just like them getting rid of Goncahrs contract for free, because theyll let him walk as a UFA....that would be a perfect trade.

I was just throwing it out there.

Hell, Cory Cross or Ulanov would fill the void for a 6th defenseman nicely as well.

We may have Gonchar, but I bet Pitts would eat a lil cash each year. Why I say that is they cant make room for Fluery as it is, how will they sign Malkin next year? even if they take Roenick and give us a mil or 2 a year (if that is allowed under the new rules) we should be well. We have locked up Frolov for a long time. Norstrom and Miller will not be getting raises. We have no real superstars to re-sign for high amounts, we should be able too work 2 more rookies into the line up next year at a cheap cost and the rumors are the salary cap is going up.

We rid ourselves of Klatt unexpectedly. Robitaille is done and I cant see how he will be re-signed and no one should be in for any mind blowing raises. If we cut fat like Armstrong (slow), Roenick(trade/UFA), Dempsey(trade/UFA), we will be more than OK cap wise.

Now in my dream world I would make a move to get Malkin who I think will be a poor mans Ovechkin but we would have to start the anti at Grebs, Tamb, and a pick. Man a Malkin, kopitzar, Boyle combo in the future could be nasty.

To trading JR he wont let himself be traded except questionably Phoenix which with our luck he'll prosper there. As for Gonchar can we stop saying that he has been horrible this year. With that his contract is huge and in the new NHL you can't have teams pay for part of the contract anymore only place that still exists is with Jagr. Otherwise that can't be done anymore. If we trading with Pittsburgh for a d-man get Jackman or Tarnstrom

Awards:
picking up gonchar wouldn't be all that bad...sure we might eat the contract but the salary cap is reportedly supposed to increase around $40-45 M...heck you could even get blake after the season with this...
