I don't think either Kane or Toews are playing well right now, but I would say especially Toews. It's like Toews goes on those psycho runs now and then where he scores 20 points in a dozen games or whatever - but then goes to sleep for the next few weeks.

Kane has not been playing too well lately, but on the bright side, better to slump now than in the Spring….
As for the top 6 in general, I don’t know why Q decided to split the Hossa, Toews and Stalberg combo. They looked great together and would often dominate. I suppose it went part and parcel with Kane going back to his wing position and Hossa with his balanced game is needed more on the 2nd line.

In the 2 games Pirri has been here, the line has been much more dangerous and Sharp got a beauty ES goal last game (playing with Hossa and Pirri).

The more I see Kruger play the more I feel he is physically in over his head at this point in his development. I don't think it is a coincidence that he is getting pummeled physically out there. Pirri is no physical speciman himself but has been pretty good at moving the puck faster and avoiding the big hits.
He wasn't really pummeled physically until Engelland knocked him into next week, and Columbus targeted a young player with a soft melon. Overmatched physically, sure. He's still driving to the net for rebounds and carrying the puck into dangerous areas trying to make plays.

I'd say Toews looks much better then Kane. Toews is cycling well and is looking dangerous out there when he's not making bad passes. Kane is a total perimeter player right now and outside of some slick passes his new shooting technique seems to be high and wide.

Yes. The strep throat that Kane is playing through has likely caused his play to suffer however that shouldn’t affect his shooting which was particularly erratic last night. But he wasn’t the only one. Hawks shooting in general left a lot to be desired.

Happy to hear it. Lepisto deserves another look and SOD is quickly turning into a defensive liability.

Not much of a chance for #20 if he's playing with #32.

what exactly does this mean to the Hawks? Krüger already was a part of the Roster and with Carcillo suspended/injured we miss 2 of 13 players. Will Bowman make a trade? Call up xxx ?

Just about to post that

Our record is just a bit of a coincidence i think, or maybe not. Maybe his defense is really that good for us?? IDK. I like Hayes and Shaw over Kruger atm. They've proven that they are hard-working defensive guys who have a scoring touch. In reality though, Kruger will be thrown right into our winning lineup and we'll probably lose, but what can you do.

My big question: Who goes down when Kruger comes back? Smith, Hayes or Shaw??

I think Smith, but we'll see how he plays tomorrow.

Smith goes down. Shaw has been hitting people and has been trusted on the penalty kill. The coaches all really trust Hayes.

Why would anyone send down Frolik? He's been a spark plug the past few games. It's unfortunate Smith got sent down, but I'm glad Kruger's coming back. Now, keep Bolland as the 2nd line centre and when Sharp's healthy, go with:

Stalberg - Toews - Kane
Sharp - Bolland - Hossa
Hayes - Kruger - Frolik
Shaw - Mayers - Bickell/Brunette

Assuming they don't trade/aquire a forward by the time Sharp's back.
