Roots have been around for a VERY long time (early 1990's). They're a very respected hip-hop group for their lyrical content and creativity. With their "roots" in Philadelphia, pun intended, it would not surprise me at all if they have a fair number of fans in the crowd. Much better choice than the generic / alternative rock garbage the NHL has been shoving down our throats in recent years. As if every fan has to like alternative rock...

The Roots are also the house band for Jimmy Fallon, so I'm sure that has given them some more exposure as well.

I love Things Fall Apart and Phrenology. And Jay-Z Unplugged wouldn't be nearly as good without them.

Because it adds something to the baseline. It's a good sound. It's also a bit different, more interesting. It's fun.

This intermission let me stew in the fact of how much I hate the Flyers.

I don't care if this is a ****** gimmick. Score some goals.

We probably wouldn't be playing like this in an arena, though.

Agreed. I'm a big Dubi fan, but I don't think he's a smart hockey player.

Also, LOL at Hartnell talking about respect.......
