UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - As part of the 2012 Winter Classic festivities, the Penn State men's hockey team will head outdoors to Citizens Bank Park - home of Major League Baseball's Philadelphia Phillies - on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 to face off against NCAA DIII Neumann University. Opening faceoff is scheduled at 8 p.m.
In its last year competing at the club level, Penn State (13-1-0) is the top-ranked team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association and will face a Neumann squad (5-3-0) that is ranked No. 15 in the USCHO.com Division III poll.
"As Penn State becomes a Division I Hockey school, what better way to make a statement than to compete on the largest stage in the State of Pennsylvania when they face off against Neumann University at Citizens Bank Park," said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "There are a tremendous number of Penn State alumni living in the Greater Philadelphia Region who are looking forward to this game. We are thrilled to host this game as part of a week-long celebration of hockey in Philadelphia. It will be great for the City and great for the school. Are you guys serious? That was pathetic. I am completely embarrassed to be a Hockey fan right now. Take off your orange coloured glasses, the league did everything they could to get that game to OT.
Penalty shot? Off setting diving call? no call on Kimmo breakaway hook?
You're too negative. Maybe you are depressed. The calls by the referees were legitimate. If you close your hand on the puck in the crease, then the other team gets a penalty shot. If you grab a players stick with your hand, even if he is hooking you, then you get called for holding the stick. There was no diving call. Timonen got 2 minutes for hooking. Callahan got 2 minutes for holding Timonen's stick to emphasize the hook. I don't know what game you watched. Just try to enjoy hockey instead of being a negative hipster who has to turn everything into a ****fest.
Really both of rupps goals were soft. but it happens. no surprise that we need better defense and goaltending. we've got over a half a season to figure it out. No worries. if there's one thing I'm confident in with this team is that they'll do the right thing to make the team better.
2nd goal by Rupp should have never happend: Leaky Bob
3rd goal :Blame G and Hartnell as they left B. Richards wide oepn
We should have won 3-2.
Our D was TERRIBLE for the last half of the third period. It took us 3 minutes (from 8 to go-5 to go) to get the puck in and contain in the Rangers' zone.
Im sooo glad I didn't drop over a grand to go down and watch the game live.
Totally agree, but Hartnell isn't supposed to cover down low. That's absolutely Giroux' job.
I don't quite remember who got outworked by Dubinsky in front of the net, if that was Hartnell, than yes, it's his fault too.
everyone panic! the flyers lost the WC meaning their season is over!
It's the idea we can't ****ing win AT ALL against someone in our division. Lost 3 times in a row, all of them hurt. This one probably hurt more since it was in Philly, outside, and got scored on twice by someone who did a Nazi salute...
