The first one absolutely as not. That was pathetic defending by Mez. He was so far back by the time the puck is visible and gets past him its less than 10 feet out. That would have been a very difficult save

It seems evident that we desperately need a top-quality D. I'm sure you all know that now though. Against this side, our offensive depth can't get it done. Hopefully management know that by now.

Hopefully this is the wake-up call we needed

I really want to hear Lavi explain why Jagr didn't play. He looked like he really wanted to get out there and had some chances in the first. Running 11 forwards probably didn't help.

Also, why was Talbot-Couts-Voracek get split up?

Pure speculation, but maybe Jagr left the ice without Laviolette's permission.

No, really.

Outsiders: make everyone's day a little easier, and don't bother discussing anything unless it can be done civilly. Rubbing the loss in our fanbase's face or talking trash is an instant infraction.

I realize everyone is hating on Danny Briere, but to be fair - the guy has poor ice to work with and is likely more concerned with getting something on net, rather than stickhandling like crazy and losing the puck altogether. And you cannot ignore the fact he is shooting on Henrik Lundqvist - very skilled and covers alot of net.

Not making excuses for Danny, but something to consider...

Like I said before, It was a great game just sucks that we lost.

I still can't figure out why Giroux never took the Penalty Shot, I thought anyone on the ice during the time of the infraction is allowed to take the PS.

BTW what happened to Jagr? I wasn't watching the game when he left, and the broadcasters never really bothered to explain what happened.

I think Jagr was still on the bench in order to serve as forward you put in the penalty box if you get a bench penalty etc.
There's no way Lavy benched him and he was able to play.

Said line was split up because of Brayden Schenn, and it was the right move.

Defense and Goaltending on this team is killing us, both always seem to be terrible at the same time. So many times we see Bob or Bryz make 3-4 consecutive saves, with juicy rebounds, then not one player is around to clear it out..then bamm goal. Also our PP is ugly, never seem to set up right, and spend most of the time on the boards or behind the net wasting valuable time while generating no chances. Team is to talented up front to not run something successful.

well then something happened. One shot showed Jagr sitting on the boards ready to go over, looking right at Lavi... then he just sat down on the bench.

Those were some pretty bad calls in the Flyers favor down the stretch. I doubt they were trying to force OT, but they were bad calls. A lot worse than the bad calls that went the other way. Blowing a play dead isn't the kind of thing that can be called a "bad call." If the ref can't see the puck, he calls it dead. Unless he could see it but called it dead anyway, it isn't really a bad call.

When he came back out to pre-skate in the 3rd he looked like he was kinda dragging his leg a bit and not able to take a full hard stride. Guess we'll find out shortly. Is Lavy doing a post game PC?

Not the end of the world, its a regular season game midway through the season.

IMO, Lavy was out coached kind of like the Boston series last year.

3 Things to consider:

1-Maybe this is the time that Bryz is sat down by Lavy and says no more cameras it's time to play hockey.

2-There is no grit on both ends of the ice, the guy who everyone wanted traded is once again one of the best players on the ice.

3-Simmonds, Talbot, Sesito 4th Line.

Anyone else notice that Couts only had like 1 shift the entire 3rd? No wonder our defense ****ing sucked...

Now that I think about it, did the Flyers ever release a statement on Jagr's status?

Mez and Lilja were brutal in this game. Both goals that were not solely on bad goaltending were scored with one of them playing like ****

Bob was awful. 2 goals by 5th liner Rupp was the difference, plain and simple. Like I say, you always start a goal down with Bob in net 100% of the time. Tough vs Rags when u start down a goal.

If the players played defense correctly, it should of been a 2-1 win. Bob couldn't see the first one. 2nd one was all him. 3rd was Richards left alone for the rebound.

Pretty exciting game. You could tell the players were worn down by the third with all the sloppy play. I have to say though Simmonds is a board hustler! Don't think he lost one battle along the boards all night! Also really sucked watching Jagr so ansy to play but didn't get a chance there in the third..

Best of luck to the Flyers for the rest of the season!

This and the fact that playing in two Winter Classics and not being able it win a single one isn't exactly something to be proud of. Maybe we will finally win one before we play in our 15th .

agreed they were bad, but i ilk mez's game, but i think he needs to be with a competent defense partner which lilja is not. then we come out with carla and bourdon which is another below average pairing. and I don't know what it is but i just don't like coburns game. sure he can skate like the wind but all other aspects of his game are below average.
