Gallagher leads the team in shots with 22 in 4 games
Beaulieu leads the team in penalty minutes with 16min
and Bournival is the leader in minus ratings with a -1

Three team leaders right there!

Bournival has settled into a two way player. Something tells me his offensive game won't translate to the NHL.

Gallagher has been the biggest disappointment. I know he's a spark plug & tireless worker with a never quit attitude but his size & average speed worries me when he has trouble finishing. Maybe he is just going through a dry spell. I certainly hope it's just a temporary thing and not an inability to score at a higher level.
Beaulieu has gaps, but they're not huge. He will be a leader on Canada next year. One more year of Junior and one or two in the AHL and we'll see him in Montreal. No need to panic. Beaulieu and Tinordi pairing may be fun to watch.

Gallagher has been trying too hard. He's one of many offensive weapons on this team. He's used to being the go to guy and has had to adjust accordingly. Same with Bournival. Gallagher will see a year or two in Hamilton unless Gio, Cammy, Desharnais and Pleks get moved soon. My thinking is the Habs, if selling at the deadline, will get bigger and that will open up a spot for Gallagher.

Beaulieu is a late 92 (Dec), so he misses his junior/WJC eligibility by less than a month. Next year he's in Hamilton unless he makes the NHL.

Tinordi has been a great surprise to me, given his level of play just a year ago. He isn't looking anywhere near the questionable pick as he once did.

Gallagher has been terrific. I had never seen him play before this tournament, and he is worthy of all the attention he is getting.

Beaulieu has been disappointing to me from what I've seen of him, especially compared to how he played in all the games I watched or attended last year.

I haven't seen or noticed enough of Bournival or Pribyl to comment.

I agree that Gallagher is not a fast skater for a player his size. But I've been so impressed by his intelligence in this tournament. He is always in great position, that's the best way to overcome lack of top end speed.

As far as lack of finishing, that's just small sample size stuff, IMO. He creates good chances for himself on a regular basis, has a good release, and has a good knack for hunting down rebounds. I remember Pacioretty putting up underwhelming point totals in Hamilton for a while, but his shot total was through the roof - the goals eventually started pouring in.

Probably 2nd wave PP.

Loving Hertl though. Hustle hustle hustle!

EDIT: Unreal. Hertl with an amazing assist/setup against Russia.

for me so far (not about ceiling or anything)Tinordi no.1/Gallagher no.2/Bournival no.3/Beaulieu no.4/Pribyl no.5......... Tinordi to me will be a good, solid physical number 4-5 def. dmen. Gallagher has been ok but maybe i had too much expectations. Bournival is a quiet player for fans but still looks hard to play against(puck magnet)... Beaulieu for me has been the biggest mistery, if i had to choose one word for his wjhc so far ithink it would be.... 3 letters WTF, so much skills so little consistency

He was said that he'd be a guy to "check" in this tournament.

How can anyone make a proper assessment of Beaulieu if all he does is play the pp?

Bah the coach don't trust Beaulieu enough to play him regularly, because one goal in these no-tomorrow games can be a world of difference. He's getting misused, being on the 4th line for the past game and I don't get why they don't put him on the point on the umbrella instead of Gormley. He's much more creative with la p'tite noire while Brandon will do the percentage plays.

What still impresses me is his skating ability. Even against the best U-20 players in the world, he can catch on them when backchecking, he's so fast.

And as I've already said on this thread, I'm confident that if Team Canada is trailing and need a goal, Beaulieu will be on the ice.

Pretty much.

He's not scoring on every PP but he does some good plays and has no equivalent in this tournament when it comes to puck carrying abilities.

Beaulieu will have to improve his game defensively, improve his skating backward, get more involved physically and get stronger.. He gives fowards too much space, what will be more evident against better competition..

To be honest I don't like how they use him on pp as well, it just seems like Gormley is the qb not Beaulieu.

Gallagher's going to have a big game against the Russians I think. Those are the kinds of teams that he's going to give fits.

What do you mean? Since 2003 they drafted 4 goalies:

Jimmy Howard (64th overall 2003) *legit NHL starter*
Daniel Larsson (92nd overall 2006) *used to be highly rated, a beast in the WJC, may still have NHL future*
Thomas McCollum (30th overall 2008) *currently making it seem like a bust at 30 though still young*
Petr Mrazek (141st overall 2010) *beast in the WJC*

Unless the McCollum pick should epitomize their goalie drafting and development, their picks are pretty decent in the regard as a whole. Even the Preds drafted Chet Pickard 18th overall.
