Hawks rising!

As the schedule turns:

The Blackhawks have 2 tough games on their current 3 game road trip (Carolina and Nashville) and will have to do it without their "vets" on Defense---Cullimore and Simpson are injured and Aucoin is still bothered by groin problems --so Babchuk and Barinka get their chance to join Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook in leading the Hawks into contention...At the conclusion of these 2 road games the Hawks will have played 30 games of which 20 were on the road--but after the Nashville game
the Hawks then play 16 of their next 21 games AT HOME...If they can manage a split or better in these 2 next games they will go into that HOME section on a good high and it is not inconceivable that by the end of January they could be 10-12 games above .500 and in great shape for a sprint to the playoffs this spring...

The addition of Patrick Sharp has cemented a 2nd line of attack as Arnasonlooks like he finally has got it going ...Yakubov will join the club soon after his short conditionoing stint in Norfolk...Ruutu probably comes back aftyer the Olympics for another bolstering event...The young D-corps is playing beyond their years and
maybe one or more of the vets (Aucoin,Cullimoe,Simpson) can be traded for other help down the stretch--it is not inconceivable that this YOUNG re-vitalized Hawks team can "Emerge" this year into a "contender" or at least set the stage for the final leap to that staus next season...things are looking up...way up!

We're 9-5-1-1 in our last 16. Not bad.

If Ruutu can come back healthy, we still have a good chance at the playoffs.

I think we have a reasonably good shot, Ruutu or not. If Ruutu comes back (*knock on wood*), he won't be at 100% anyway.

I think Yawney is possibly good enough coach to get this defunct team to the playoffs. From then on out it's all on Khabi.

I agree the youngsters are playing beyond what should be expected. Seabrook and Keith have really stepped up, and Babchuck looked alright last night against Nashville. As far as trading away d-vets, Maybe Simpson, but Aucoin and Cully no way! Those guys are too valuable. I will agree that the Hawks can be contenders this season. Let's just all keep our fingers crossed.

I just took a look at the Hawks schedule....

Pretty unbalanced how the home and road games are set up.

With the Hawks only 7 points out of the 8th spot and playing a big chunk of the next games at home, I see them continue to improve their overall situation.

Khabibullin looked strong against the Blues tonight.
