Should have saluted Hartnell personally.

Hats off to Rupp

Good player.

Just found out he was diagnosed with Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome in 98 and this **** elevates the risk of sudden cardiac death. If it's true, he wasn't supposed to play sports professionally but team docs know better.

Wished he had a hat trick.

I heard that Hartnell was so angry about Rupp's salute that he was going to spear Del Zotto in the back of his knee. Just to make his point, of course.

Anyone been able to dig up a decent quality/angle picture of the salute?

Ill eat it for you only because a poster admitting he was wrong here is such a rare thing.

Lol. At the time I just didn't understand the point of signing him.

But, he's looked good since coming back from injury. And he's a good guy in the locker room.

I enjoy eating plates of crow. All it means is, the team is better for it.

Great guy great signing great game
Can't always agree with everything everyone says, and you're not immune to that either. But what no one can take away from you is that you have your inside sources. So when you mention something may be happening, I certainly take note. Im sure a lot of posters do.

I can't say I know players personally. And you do.

So, please, continue to share the inside info when its present to you and its OK to share it.

Richards was No. 1 on most everyone's list of targeted UFA's. Rupp was in my top 5. He's not that talented but he can play and there are many variables into making a winning team. You cannot win in the NHL on talent alone. If that were the case all the all star teams we put together before the lockout would have won multiple championships instead of what they did do--not make the playoffs even once.

The main reasons for signing a Rupp 1) he can play on both sides of the puck and play at a decent pace 2) he's very capable of knocking in 10 goals a year as a bottom liner 3) he can handle the rough stuff and though not the best heavyweight he can hang with most all of them--even if he doesn't win--and not get hurt which is something I was fearing would happen to Prust eventually 4) so it gives Prust some breathing room--he won't have to fight Steve McIntyre, George Parros, Matt Carkner, Eric Boulton and possibly get destroyed some day.

From the recent past Orr always had skating issues. With time he became at least somewhat reliable defensively that he wasn't embarrassing himself but he has never really been a good player.

Brashear once was a decent player but by the time he signed with us his game was gone.

Booggaard was neither a good skater or a good player and unbeknownst to us he had a bunch of other issues--some that even he probably didn't know about.

Orr, Brashear, Boogaard all better fighters than Rupp but Rupp is a much better player. To me this was always going to be a smart move and I don't want to mention another guy but Rupp's coming in made him expendable.

Agreed. And although I disagree, rather often with you Dagoon, those who have been around for a while have seen you be right more than a couple times. I am surely one of the guys who takes note when you tell us something so please know there are some of us out there who respect the info.

And i hate making the correlation because it's still a touchy subject, but Rupp is so much better than Boogaard.

Rupp is really going hard to take over Bryzgalov as star of 24/7..last weeks "Irrelevant" comment and this week he's sure to be featured with the 2 WC goals and hopefully for ripping Kopecky away from the ref then feeding him his fists will make him the star in my eyes

They'll have to go to the cutting room floor to patch together stuff to make Bobrovsky look interesting or they'll just get Bryz going all "stream of conciousness" under his breath to nobody in particular.

We'll get around to that eventually. Rupp is the man!

Seriously though, any Flyer player, let alone a complete tool like Hartnell, lecturing anybody else about respect is a complete and utter joke. It's a classic case of Philly whining. They did it all the time back in their broad street bully days and they continue it in the present day. Clark was always yapping his ugly mouth off. The more re watch this game, the more it takes me back decades.

Yeah, I hate the flyers in case you hadn't noticed. I'm so glad they were embarrassed yesterday. Couldn't even win a rigged game. Pathetic.

Rupp is literally the exact opposite of Shelley. He does matter and make an impact on the game. I can't believe I wrote a year and a half ago that I wanted Shelley back instead of Prust. Might've been one of the dumber things I've said.
