Hardly underwhelming. He's looking very comfortable. Sure he's not lighting it up, but overall, for his first season at 18, I'd say he's been as much as expected.

But relative to the hype surrounding him on draft day and how he was the "best defenseman in the SEL" playing against men, and called the next Lidstrom, he's been quite exactly, underwhelming. I'm sure he'll have a great career, but he's not even close to Calder discussion.

Every swedish d-man is called that. Besides Lidstrom wasn't the next Lidstrom at age 18. For an 18yr old D-man to play the way Larsson has, I am impressed.
