It adds depth to his character. Even though it's a sitcom, not everything has to be funny. To be honest, the fact that he remained such a flat character for so long is pretty unrealistic.

My point is - they can add depth and make him funny. The baby stuff was painful.

Barney's a one dimensional character, either he's over the top or he's all serious and sad so it's hard to get that in between.

Really liked tonight's episode, the laughs were there a lot. Loved the theme song for Puzzles.

Lack luster. Maybe it's because I'm rewatching the entire series for like an eighth time, but the episode was really lacking. I thought Robin's part was lame, Kal Penn is really annoying and needs to go. I thought Barney and Ted parts were funny, and I wish they could've added something from the past, like the original time they took over the Pub and the Beach Boys song or whatever played, they should've played that, and I thought it was kind of lame of Marshall and Lily staying away from everyone. I also wish Marshall started freaking out when the guy opened a lager on his dad's grave. Maybe play that song from the foreskins overall i feel it was just a filler, I'm okay with it, it was just...lackluster.

Wasn't a huge fan of the episode, with the exception of the Ted/Barney bits.

But what if the Vikings got shut out this week? Or only kicked FGs? Wouldn't that have screwed the scene where the Erikssons react to the Vikings TD in the cemetery?

I am starting to think that we may never actually meet the mother and what will happen is something like

"Children, as I turned around, I saw her, your mother" and have the POV from the mother
