Casual UND fan here, any update on the severity of the injury?

I know you post here alot and are respected. But that comment is just silly. Up to the 8 minute mark, the Czechs looked like Wiley Coyote and the USA was the Roadrunner. When you are desperate you sacrifice out numbered chances. But make no mistake, the USA was a goal post away from advancing.

Still think we should have taken Etem. God forbid we take a local kid who has the skill and plays a position where we are weak at.

I agree with you that we should have taken Etem, but he wasn't impressive at all either in this tournament... The whole US team looked bad.

When the kings traded up I was sitting in the stands expecting Tarasenko's name to be called. I wish it had been...

I was at the Finland/Denmark game last night. Christopher Gibson was in net for the Fins. Hard to judge his ability since the Danes are not a great team. But the one thing I noticed is he is not a goalie to put on shootouts. The only Danish goal was a penalty shot that he stopped and then somehow trickled out from between his legs. Not a goal he should have given up. The rest of the game he was hardly tested, a few decent saves on the few scoring chances he had.

He also reminded me a bit of Ron Hextall in that he was a bit of a rough goalie. I saw a few Danes take some slashes from him and there was a scrum in the crease and he more or less pushed on the Danes to the ground. No penalty was called on that one, much to my chagrin, since I was cheering for Denmark.

Love how the Russians are playing in this game, although the officiating has been absolutely terrible (tends to happen with these international officials).

The Russians are having a Chernobyl like meltdown. What an absolutely insane game. I love WJC hockey.

Or he would have been blamed if they still lost.

I'm happy for Russia. Canada can't juat decide when they want to play. They deserved to lose.

That was alot of craziness in the third.

Gotta love the top end talent on the russian team.

Hope Russia takes it. Would make the draft more interesting.

Agreed. This had to have been the most undisciplined Team Canada squad I've seen in a while. Jenner's spear was just an example of that. Team needs a boost, you just got a powerplay so yeah, go spear a guy who is being held by a linesman as the ref is two feet away. neither team played a complete game, but Canada was sure undisciplined.

Agreed as well. While I think Canada deserved some flak from the refs, some of those calls were downright silly. The WJC is well known for inconsistent reffing. They need to get refs together well ahead of time and have them ref games together someplace for a month just to get into sync more. Players just want consistency, but that's the last thing you'll get from WJC reffing.

Man, I would really have liked Sweden to play Canada in the finals. Oh well. Please win the gold, it has not happened in my lifetime and I'm 28!

Kevin Gravel scores the GWG for USA in their final relegation round game against the Swiss (USA wins only 2-1) and so they finish top in the relegation round.
