Just heard this on the FAN. They're tied with the 99-00 Stars actually, but wow.

The main problem about our PK isn't the coaching or the system it's the players making mistakes. I've noticed yesterday and in the New Jersey game especially that the defencemen will be way to aggresive and leave someone out front wide open. Best example is Gunnarson against the Devils went to attack puck in the corner when other d-man was there and left Clarkson wide open in front of the net and they scored a easy goal. Most of the PP goals scored against us are either from a guy being wide open in front or players just being afraid to block a shot.

And, he came to us with the best PK the year prior. Personnel matters.

Yes, I can't believe we haven't excelled on the PK with the likes of Raycroft and Toskala, and even now with a team without a clear number one.

I dont know what im saying. Its rather confusing because IMO the problem has been the system. Some of it lays on the players. But most of it is the system.

So, you're saying having a very young D contributes to our PK woes? Imagine.

And I brought up two goalies who can't even find a JOB in the league.

Schenn and Gunnarson are our best PK dmen and their combined age equals Housley's.

Gunnarson isn't that great on the PK. Can be way to aggresive and leave his man in front of the net wide open.

I really don't like Schenn on the PK. He never clears the puck when given an opportunity, and for my money that's more important than anything. If your D can't clear the puck, you're in big, big trouble.

Pretty sure Phaneuf, Gunnar and Gardiner have the best PK numbers on our backend, while Schenn, Komi and Liles are the worst.

1997 was 15 years ago. Stop living in the past.

What someone did then does not merit you a job today. This is 2012 and you need to perform NOW!

Lol are you serious? Bryzgalov and his quotes will make this city go crazy. You'd have people wanting to trade him two months into the season. He's not the type of goalie we need. He'd buckle in Toronto more so than in Philly.

There is a major disconnect with the coach in charge of working with the PK (Cronin) and players. This was mentioned last night on the broadcast about Phaneuf and him having some heat between them.

Hmmm...I actually also remember someone else mentioning this earlier this year, but I was told I was an idiot that was probably lying, and the topic was closed.

Hockey has changed for the past 15 years. Maybe, wilson system doesn't work in the present because of the change in which speed really matters.

I don't really care what happen in the past, all I care is that the penalty kill has to improve by either the players stepping up or a coaching change.
