I heard a rumor at the new years eve game that he had actually failed part of his physical. I was told he was going to retake it in a couple of days to see if he passes it then. No idea if this is really the case but it would make sense as to why we haven't heard anything as of yet

Yeah, all that talk died in a hurry. It seemed that day it was a sure thing, and now, nothing. Must find out from GR what's going on.

I'm late to the discussion on this one, but I'd sign this guy in a New York second. He might be 38, but he is a damn fine character and is absolutely a "Tallon" kind of guy. He's the kind of guy where if he says he can play and contribute, he can play and contribute. A genuine leader-type. His name is on the Cup 3 times. Probably the most underrated guy on a VERY stacked New Jersey team from 10 years ago.

Give him a year (or the rest of this one, at any rate). Leave the option open for another next year. But I would take this guy in a heartbeat.

Interesting, I'm really not sure what to think at this point. On the one hand Madden can be a real asset, having not played for awhile I'm taking the wait and see approach.

The only other concern I have is when we get completely healthy somebody is out. It's nice to have a spot or two open for the newbs to get some experience. As it stands now we're going to have a non 4th liner on the 4th line when everybody is healthy. Guess that's not something to complain about though, and I'm not.

Versteeg - Weiss - Flash
Kopecky - Goc - Bergenhiem
Skille - Madden - Upshall
Samuelsson - Santo - Sturm

I'm not saying this will be the line combos just throwing names in there, that leaves out Matthias, Bradley, Barch, Repik, Kennedy, Dadonov.

Right Matthias is our 2nd line center, no matter who comes back from injuries.

I dont think Samuelsson and Sturm go anywhere, but I do think Tallon is going to move Santorelli. He is just not doing much for us right now, and with Madden and Goc down the middle, I dont see where Dineen could put him right now. Its too bad, because I respect what Santo brought to the team last year, but unfortunately, its what have you done for me lately.

Steeger - Weiss - Flash
Skille - Matthias - Bergenheim
Kopecky - Goc - Upshall
Samuelsson - Madden - Sturm/Bradley/Barch

I love those lines, especially with Madden here now. We have a fantastic top line, and three lines that can really create some offense. We just need to get the injured players back, stay healthy, and we should get in.

Who're you? Kearns isn't going to earn aspot over 2of those guys, but yes, Sanot will likely be on his way out. And Matthias won't be playing second fiddle to Madden, and likely not Goc, either.

Welcome aboard Madden!

If everyone was healthy

Versteeg - Weiss - Flash
Samuelsson - Matthias - Upshall
Kopecky - Goc - Bergenheim
Sturm - Madden - Skille

Skille is gonna be out for a long time to insert Bradley there

Just awake. Rattrick texted me, woke up to reply here, saw that nonsense, and that's what came out.

I like those lines, and Barch can slide in when needed to provide the extra muscle. Though, maybe switch Bergenheim and Upshall. Would rather we move Santorelli and perhaps Upshall for a more solid 2nd line guy?

I've wondered about the possibility of Tallon moving one of the guys he has signed. Guess it's always possible. I personally want to see if Upshall comes back with something to prove.

OMG another ex Blackhawk? Hope it turns out good, InTallonWeTrust.
P.S. I see Santo gone before any hurt guy, he has had many chances to prove himself and hes just not getting it done. I like him, he did great last season. I even have a signed helmet of his, but unfortunately it wouldnt suprise me to see him leave.

My thoughts exactly. With Goc healthy (knock wood), I really like our strength up the middle. That's a pretty daggum solid group of centers. Bergie has played well with Matthias, so I'd keep them together.

I was generally pleased with what I saw from Upshall early in the season, but I'm more than a little disappointed in how long he's been out.

I think Santorelli is pretty obviously the odd man out here, and can see him as part of a package (Upshall? Dadanov?) going to get us another top 6 wing. I heard on Home Ice this morning that they think Anaheim has put Bobby Ryan and possibly even Ryan Getzlaf back up on the block... Could be interesting.

He was at practice today on a line with Barch and Bradley (I think it was Bradley, I can't remember)

Welcome to the Cats Madden!

The help is needed, especially with the Jets & Caps at our heels... Curious to see how much rust he'll have.

Also- just read this: http://therattrick.com/2012/01/04/it...rs/#more-17318 on The Rat Trick and like the deal even more.

Pros - he's a vet, a three-time Cup champ, and helps us out in a lot of those 'unsung' areas.

Cons - He's 38 and hasn't touched the ice in an NHL game in a loooong time... crossing my fingers!
