BTW, I'm enjoying this season too....especially in comparison to last year in the first half. That doesn't mean that I'm satisfied with the team's play and the coach's "coaching"
This team should and CAN be better than it currently is. I only hope they get better in time(in particular, stop these SHGs from happening) or we can pretty much kiss any hope of the playoffs goodbye when it's all said and done. I don't think I can stand another playoff-less season.

Media are there to get attention, viewership/readership, and make money from such. Sensationalism only helps that machine. From the team perspective there is very little to gain by giving any "real" information to the media, but there is very much to lose. Doesn't mean you can't and shouldn't continue to read/listen, but I'd also apply some filtering to that process. There's a reason player interviews sound cliche, and it's not for our benefit.
I just think Pete, despite what he says to the media, is fully aware and concerned about things he may dismiss publicly (as are the players I'm sure) because there is much more to gain by keeping things private than airing the laundry publicly. Some coaches have done that as a tactic with success, but I think an objective look at those "plays" would see they backfire long term than they work (unless your goal is to coach the Ducks).
