I don't remember him getting hit that hard...

Nevertheless, this is bad news for the team. Chris is our rock on the back end.

No, volchenkov didn't play...it was when he was fighting with clarkson in front of the net on the devils goal. He left and didn't return.

Cowen will have to step up big to replace Phillips short-term.

Wondered what was going on with him. Who gets the call up from the farm? Boro-cop?

Probably no one, Lee and Carkner will just play fulltime.

Karlsson
Kuba
Gonchar
Cowen
Lee
Carkner

I'm going to assume they will run with the current 6 d that they have. If they do call someone up my guess will be Boro as well.

This is just about the best news Brian Lee's agent has heard in months...

Sucks for Big Rig though. Hopefully it's minor, and we see him back in 1-2 weeks after taking all the "precautionary measures" and not rushing back too soon.

I know I bash Lee a lot but he really looked like a weak link on our D versus N.J. Hopefully Lee can step up and be good for a chunk of games so we can tell if he is worth signing this summer to play bottom pairing regular minutes or if he will forever be a 6/7 fill-in Dman. I hope he steps up, it's time he does it now

Well Lee has to play on the left so I'm bracing myself for the epic fail

Apparently on the Zubrus goal. He falls on the face-off, get's back up heads to the net and falls again. Both times he fell forwards. Maybe a 'whiplash' style concussion?

I agree he looked like a weak link in that game as he made a few glaring mistakes...But to be fair i thought that was his worst game in a while. So hopefully it's just a hiccup along the road. He is still young and will get better. D take longer to develop. I don't have a problem with him holding down a 5-6 spot on our blueline for the forseeable future. I would just like to see more offense...i mean 0 goals last year...0 goals this year...come on. Carkner has more offense apparently. He's actually gotten worse every year offensively which is strange.

Most of the time on innocent plays as well. Its baffling some of the plays where people are getting concussions.

So? They won't go on their road trip with just 6 D. Borowiecki will be getting a shot if Phillips is out for any extended period of time.

Too bad. Was having a great bounce back season with 10 points to boot. Hopefully this will allow him to be a force down the stretch.

Brian Lee, you better step up and take this opportunity. I am not a fan of his play but he has been reasonably steady this year. Just that his shot is terrible and he reeks of self doubt. Hopefully a goal can change his confidence.

It's a big time coinky-dink! But the media is running with it as the story of 2011. Hockey is violent, players will get hurt. End of story!

Hopefully Phillips doesn't miss too much time, the team needs him badly!
