I think the calls made them look bad. This wasn't marginal. Even the flyer fans knew it.

If that player had made those comments, he would be suspended if not by the team directly, then by the league for a long, long time. Right or wrong?
Absolutely correct and that's why I agreed it was hypocritical. But the apology had to be made.

Sure but the point is he made the comments at a press conference and kind of, no, totally, implicated everyone in some kind of evil scheme. Right or wrong he was going to have to eat it.

How Laviolette hasn't gotten fined for calling out the refs favoring Montreal?

Diff situation he was caught on candid camera by HBO I'm sure they are a lot more lenient seeing as how the coaches are told to be themselves

Worse than saying what Tortorella said when he did is apologizing for it afterwards. He said exactly what he meant and he meant everything he said. Own it and don't bend over to save face with Bettman. The calls and non-calls late in the game were a freaking disgrace!
agreed.

This is Torts 2nd screw up. And it was a screw up.

wonder how he is going to hold himself accountable?

For some reason I knew Avery would get dragged into this.

How is he going to hold himself accountable? By keeping the Rangers on top of the East.

He will put himself in a timeout. Also, no video games for one week.

Glad to know he's a huge Giants fan. Chose the right team!

Kind of odd Tortorella is from Boston and a Giant/Yankee fan.

Wonder how that came about.

he's gonna don the pads and a jersey?

Can't wait.

The Avery topic will come up when Torts makes a mistake simply because Torts doesn't tolerate mistakes by Avery, yet we are supposed to tolerate mistakes by Torts?

Double Standard here.

At the end of the day, what Torts said about the Refs at the WC is not really an important issue for me. It's not the first time he's ripped the refs. He's done that 3-4 times this year already.

It's the insiniuation that the league and the NHL's new big money network were in cahoots to lengthen the game is horrible timing at best, he just questioned the integrity of alot of people.

He just embarrassed the Rangers organization more than Avery ever has.

So when you stand on a soapbox talking about doinbg things the right way, you can't do what he just did and not expect the link to be made

Really?

I'll disagree. Let's leave it at that.

$30,000? That's it.

Big deal.

The refs made some curious calls. They were a joke.

Embarrassed? I doubt there are many people outside of the league and the Flyers organization/fanbase who disagrees with what he said.

Sure he shouldn't have said it, but he said what everyone else was thinking.
