I don't pay attention to those long term forecasts whatsoever. Things like the farmers almanac are bunk. The truth is, weather forecasters can't accurately predict what's going to happen a week from now. All of a sudden we could see that on Thursday we're going to get dumped on with 20cm of snow. I would jump for joy if this warm weather lasts for another month. Give us some snow in February, because by March, things are already getting to the point where snow melts because of the longer days and hotter sun.
t-shirt and shorts weather over the holidays, Edmonton the new winter destination...good luck keeping those free agents away now
I'm just thinking its good weather for the World Juniors... yes kids, it's always this warm in Edmonton in the winter, no reason not to want to come to Edmonton to play.
Does anybody know where to find historical data on temperatures during Edmonton's history. I'm curious where this November/December rank over the past few decades.
Has to be up there. Hopefully this starts to become a trend rather than a once every couple decades occurrence. I'll take this over snow any day.
oh we will get hammered in january at some point, you can count on that. Although I remember last year, it was mid to late January, we also had a stretch where it was like +5 to +7 and it lasted for about a week.

Freezing rain warning for
City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park continued
Freezing rain this morning.
An area of freezing rain has developed over Central Alberta this morning. Freezing rain has been reported in Edson, Whitecourt and Edmonton and is expected to move east over the next few hours. The freezing rain will end later this morning as temperatures rise above zero and the freezing rain turns to snow near the Saskatchewan border

other than hockey season, i have no use for winter at all !! after all the snow we had last winter, if we can get through this winter with relatively mild weather, then i'll be happy as a pig in mud. bring on an early spring !!

Hey we do deserve a early spring after having snow falling in June last year.
I read an article from Josh Classen today saying he doesn't see much in the way of precipitation for the rest of January. That's fantastic news. I can even handle a bit of cold if we can avoid the snow for the rest of this month. Bring it on in February, because it's going to start melting in March anyways.

That's the potential consequence I'm worried about - that winter is inevitable and that it'll just arrive late as it did last year. Brutal spring and late start to summer.
Glad to know all is still warm for you guys, though... I'm Iphoning from a dive boat off kona Hawaii, expecting you'll get hit someone soon. Sure don't want it upon my return.

what are you talking about
its global warming man
also this coincides perfectly with the end of the world in December as the weather has been really weird.
Pretty big storm being predicted for Edmonton right now. Here is a good radar link if you want to follow its progress towards the city. I am still hoping it makes a miraculous turn and avoids us. I'm not banking on it though.
