The calendar has turned, and we approaching the half way mark. The habs have had alot of problems and turmoil this year, but I'm stil interested in gauging who you believe has been the habs best player thus far. Use any criteria that you feel fit.
I think Erik Cole has been the MVP. His work ethic from game to game has been remarkably consistent and top notch. You will have trouble thinking of many games where it seemed like Cole was not playing.
He leads the team with 16 goals. The next closest guy only has 11. He's one point off the team scoring lead, 1st in PP goals, and 2nd in GWG.
I know it doesnt mean much... its like when Jeff Hackett was named MVP for 2 years in a row and the habs missed the playoffs, but I find it interesting nonetheless.
Cole by a longshot. After all the crap he received at the beginning, he has become our best player by a longshot. Even after Martin **** on him about the PP. So glad Martin is gone...Cole has turned on the engines and doesn't seem to be turning them off anytime soon.
Matin..if you did YOUR HOMEWORK...maybe you'd still have a job! Good riddence!
I went with Cole as its the more 'sexy' choice, but I'm sure the team would be last in the league without Price.
Price would probably be my #2. I'm sure its not easy playing behind that inexperienced D, but he has been a bit leaky this year. But I'm not going to say that the habs wouldn't be further down if budaj was the starter, so I see where you are coming from. Goaltending is the most influential position in hockey.
I'll go off the grid and say Plekanecs. He has struggled putting up points of late, but his leading presence on one of the best PK units in the NHL is important, so is his 30 points or so, and him constantly being matched against the opposing teams top lines.
1. Pleks gets no love, I'm not surprised, his job of preventing goals isn't as flashy as scoring them.
2. Cole, a close 2nd, scores some good goals, but mostly against weaker competition on the line with Desharnais, not a knock on Cole. I jsut value PLeks work more than others.
3. Subban, been a monster on the back end, despite a few glaringly costly mistakes, when he isn't making those mistakes he is by far the best habs dman, way ahead of Gorges imo.
