I can't speak for confidence but Eller was regularly getting significant minutes under Martin this season.
I disagree - Martin formed this line - Kost-Eller-Moen - but had little faith in Eller!! - he was supplemented with others on a regular occasion - far too often for a player of Eller's stature as an "elite international" player ..... he became a "piece of the forward puzzle" that was and has been mismanaged!

When they were heavily down on wingers Martin used Eller to carry the stiffs to make a passable third line. For a defense focused guy like Martin that's pretty high praise.
with Blunden-Darche-others is a waste!! That's what Martin did, more that naught! 4th-line wingers - as if to prove his worth!! He had chemistry with Kostitsyn from the start - another big body!

I liked Martin as a coach - he just never had "faith" in youth and instead was over playing "old stars and vets" and leaving crumbs to youngsters! That wasn't fair IMO - but I am not the coach trying to save his "keister"!

I'll also say that shortly before the firing of Martin, he did trust Eller enough to play him against the Sedins when we did play against Vancouver...
Can't believe people are still crapping on Martin.
JM made him very aware of his defensive game and was starting to use him against the opposition's top line, sometimes more than Plek.
Injuries screwed us again, so lines had to be broken, and a Eller-AK-Moen line that was often one of our best early this year suffered from it.
Has nothing to do with RC. Eller is coming onto his own, that's all.
"I really enjoy playing for Randy," Eller said. "He's very close to the players, you can always go and talk to him and he'll talk to you about things. You never bad asking him a question because you know he wants to make you a better player."

So obviously it was a coaching thing for him at least.

That very well be the case however Lars Eller himself seems to even imply it above.
