Bournival looks to me like the kind of player who will have to battle his whole career to stay in the NHL. He's pretty smart, strong and fast, but I don't see one exceptional quality that will keep him in the lineup. Hopefully he can get meaner, or his faceoff ability will carry over to the pros, or something. It's good that he has enough skill to put up points in Shawinigan, but I see a long stay in Hamilton, so he can fully dedicate himself to adapting himself a role as a bottom 6 forward when he makes the NHL.
Unless Tinordi was loaned to Metallurg Magnitogorsk (or Yuzhny Ural Orsk, Magnitka's VHL affiliate) so that he could improve his game with the puck. IMO a season in Russia could make him a more complete player.

His main ability is smarts and hard work. That's kept a lot of guys in the NHL and playing pretty good minutes, see Gorges.
My evaluation of the Habs kids at the camp.. Tinordi has been by far the best of the bunch showing why Habs traded up to grab him.. Not only he has been a strong physical presence all the tournament long but his play with the puck was actually decent, what was a nice surprise to me..
Beaulieu: The kid is a project at this point, a very nice project but still a project.. While he has obvious offensive skills, the kid also has gaps in his game.. The first thing you learn when you are a kid is always having your stick on the ice and be ready to anticipate the plays, well too many times Beaulieu has his stick in the air floating instead getting closer to the action, kind of reminds me A.Kost when he is off.. Too many times Beaulieu looks non chalent on the ice, something I personally cant stand as a hockey fan.. His backward skating needs improvement, he gives too much space to the opposing fowards and will have to learn to throw his body around way more.. He doesnt react well when pressured hard by the opposition, will have to improve his decision making and learn to sacrafice his body to make a play, I guess it will improve when the kid gets stronger.. His offensive instinct and natural skills are certainly worth working with, but I could see him spend 3 years in the AHL working on his weakness before he is ready for the big show.. Nathan could become an home run pick or could potentially bust if he doesnt understand the areas he has to work on or hasnt the work ethic to succeed.. At this point Beaulieu really reminds me Ron Hainsey, ton of potential but alot of gaps to improve..
Gallagher, his lack of speed and strength has been apparent in this tournament, especially against stronger competition.. He has sick work ethic and will to succeed, the kid constantly goes in nthe dirty areas but his lack of pure offensive skills are a major concern to me.. His shot is pretty average to say the least so are his stickhandling skills and vision.. I doubt he has what it takes to become a solid top 6 in the NHL but could see him on a third line eventually..

i agree..the D men have some promise. Beaulieu may become a mike green type which would be great and Tinordi at worst should be a tough bottom pairing more mobile, grittier Hal gill...

point is we have some nice pieces on D but lots of 'maybes' at forward.
timmins needs to draft a whole slew of talent up front to replenish the
system because outside of eller, maxpac and maybe leblanc we have large gaps

I have to agree that i dont like come WJC time and all of a sudden everyones a prospect expert, i love that everyone have their own opinions but i dont like when people are adamant that their opinion is cold hard infallible analysis , its just a week in the kids life, biggest stage of their career SO FAR, but by no means the defining moment of their lives, its just a progression
But to say beaulieu is not a project is a little wrong i think, its clear he has tools, you dont go in the first round for no reason ( most of the time) , but i think its the definition of a project when it comes to him, everything he has to work on, can BE worked on, but what he excels at, hard to teach.

Honestly, can't stand Russian Hockey players, very few of them don't have that ****** cocky attitude, not only should you be afraid of the players bolting back to Russia anytime they don't get their demands yet but they are most often than not lazy, cocky and waiting for that big contract so that they can just "chill" and score half the goals they did before their big contract.

You hate Nail because he obviously doesn't speak much English, excited that he has a chance at a gold medal and beat the Russians biggest rival? Come on it's hard not to feel good about a guy who is that excited about playing hockey, regardless of nationally.
Bealieu was kept on the team to be a power play specialist and yet he barely had any PP time late in the tournament. Aside from the 6th goal debacle, I can't think of any other big mistakes.
He isn't lol! He just has some kind of obsession with Tinordi going to play in the KHL
Magnitogorsk being the one KHL destination for Tinordi is not totally baseless. He was Magnitka's 7th-rounder back in 2010 and KHL teams retain their rights on their draftees until they reach UFA age (in a KHL context, this means until a player reaches 28 years old)
It just so happens that the Russian game is a hockey style where offensive skills are developed into D-men who would be shutdown D-men under most non-Russian systems.
