Of course you need big, strong forwards, but there's no proof that size prevents injuries. If anything taller people are more prone to knee and back problems.
gionta played 61 games two years ago...cammalleri 65 per year...
size (with speed, especially at center) may not prevent injuries but it certainly helps team win games
a regular basis

Will be tough, they have a lot of guys in line for raises in 2012 and 2013.

Rask Thomas
Boychuk
McQuaid is getting a 1 mil raise
Their 4th line is UFA
Kelly
Lucic Marchand Horton Seguin
Krejci is getting a 1.5 mil raise

They have 48 Mil committed for 12-13 and Kelly Pouliot Campbell Paille Thornton Rask Boychuk Corvo Hamill unsigned.

They will have around 16.5M in cap space with 13 players signed and most vacant spots available to be filled with complimentary players. Plus carry over bonuses.

I say they should go for Suter instead of a forward to replace Boychuk. That'll really solidify that defence. Most of their top 6 forwards are signed for a while.

The Bruins can do no wrong, because they don't have smurfs like Marchand and Krejci.

Ya you're right, especially considering they are playing and looking even better then last year and Seguin has already become a superstar. That kid's unreal

Krejci is an inch taller than Plekanec and lighter, and yet Habs fans love calling the latter a smurf and a little girl.

Chris Butler is -7 in the game so far!

The only player on the Flames who's even is T.J. Brodie - and he leads the team in TOI!

your idea of facts and microscopic reasoning prohibits you from actually understanding the differences between players with size who play small and vice versa.

perhaps you need to brush up on your English comprehension. habs may not be 'way smaller' but most of the team plays small - especially at key scoring positions up front. it is absolutely no accident that Cole leads the habs in goal-scoring...and played 10 minutes more than any forward last night.

pleks imo, is the lesser of our problems up front. i think Krejci is grittier but give pleks horton and lucic and we'll see.
the issue is depending on guys like gionta and cammalleri. one in the top 6 is ok.
If Andrei kostitsyn could play top 6 minutes that would be great too. but he doesn't seem to respond to pressure well and is happy where he is with two relatively gritty guys.
as i've said, unless Eller emerges, habs will need to trade 2 of gionta, cammalleri or desharnais..and bring in a bit more jam on the scoring lines

Exactly. Who cares about salary cap when you has a chance to do what no other teams has done in the past how many years now....

The Russians have had a total of 4 shots on goal in the Gold medal game after 2 periods.. I don't think I've ever seen such a low shot total after 2 periods ever.. Outshot 39-4 and it's still 0-0..
