That 3rd goal was all on him....it allowed Chicago to get back into the game. He DID NOT make a key situational save. The first goal he committed early like Clemente said....got impatient and tried to poke check and butterfly at the same time. That put us behind the 8 ball right at the outset. Letting in the first goal is never helpful. The second goal he committed early as well. He was fighting the puck most of the night despite the 30 saves. How many of those saves were quality? There were some but few and far between. The tying goal ..yeah he was left out to pasture but couldn't make an exceptional save something we want to see b/c of what he's getting paid...

Anyway...he still has work to do and I'm not sure how people continue to be apologists for his mediocre goaltending then again it was worse when Leighton was in net and he actually had some defense apart from the 5th and 6th pairing....

Scott Hartnell, who is tied with Claude ****ing Giroux in goals and is probably personally responsible for setting up at least a quarter of Giroux's opportunities, must be traded immediately.

Brayden Schenn, after playing like 10 games with very limited TOI, isn't worth the trade already.

Wayne Simmonds, who played amazingly tonight and continues to win huge battles along the board which lead to big opportunities, is a disappointment.

But Ilya Bryzgalov, who lets in 4 goals (3 of which were prayer shots that could have been stopped by a person in mid-seizure randomly flailing their arms around) and is now approaching league worst stats in every goaltending category is credited for a 5 to ****ing 4 win.

Unreal.
I guess everyone has own postgame ritual. I get a glass of a single malt scotch, you go for Bryz bashing.

To each its own.

True, I didnt think of that. If that is honestly the case then they need to stop playing games w/ a young kids health and just let him completely heal. I know that was just an example for a possible reason but I'm just sayin

give me a break

if people can bash the forwards on one of the highest scoring offenses in the league, I can have a go at the man between the pipes

The guy has flat out sucked this season. Like he said, his stats are among the worst of the BACKUPS. I don't understand how you can defend Bryz when in this, apparently one of his better games, he posts a .882 SV%

Change the system and sit back when you have arguably the fastest team in the league? No thanks. 3 points outta first place, and Bryz didn't get a lifetime contract so we can play a passive system to hide him.

Bryz h8rs
put the cap back on your haterade.
the 3rd goal was his fault.
The other 3, the D totally ***** the bed.

1st goal bad giveaway
2nd goal - D undressed by a rookie
4th goal - Kane WIDE OPEN in the slot.

Bryz played great tonight and made huge saves.

It's quite obvious that you don't watch hockey outside of the flyers, because of you did you would know there's nothing wrong with a guy like read being on the second PP unit, and you would know what top goaltending looks like

He's not playng good, we get it. But he made some big saves tonight. A few good 2 on 1s.

The 1st and 3rd goals were really bad. But poor defense from forwards and defensemen alike are plying a part in his poor numbers.

We all want to see him get better, in fact we're all demanding it. Today he made some game changing saves, that's a small step in the right direction.

Ilya Bryzgalov says he is too ill to address the media tonight. Sounds like the top brass was perfectly okay with that.

Has there been any forward bashing in this thread? Because I haven't seen any, and judging by your last few posts, they should be slap me in the face obvious.....

He's ill? Anyway....maybe he's got a gag order on him. It happened initially in the year then they backed off. Could also be self-censorship but that's like trying to contain a person with touretts ...

MRI tomorrow for Timonen.

Not sure we can properly evaluate from this info, but perhaps it is a ray of sunshine in a dreary possibility:

For what it's worth, Timonen was talking to friends and didn't seem to be in a lot of pain after the game
Source: Sam @ Philly Inq.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++

More info:
Timonen was seen wearing a soft brace on his left wrist.

We've played one more game than them, but we have just as many hockey wins as the "unstoppable" Boston Bruins ... so maybe it's not that bad.

He doesn't make saves if the D aren't perfect. He doesn't make saves on breakaways. He doesn't make saves when the D does their job (3rd goal, Lecavalier's goal). He doesn't make saves when he's screened, and apparently he doesn't make saves when he isn't screened. He is totally reliant on the defense, and the defense can't rely on him at all.

Which recent former Flyers goalie does this sound like?

Yea, I compared him to MFL in a thread before the winter classic. MFL 2.

Well said.....I think some folks think many folks are "defending" Bryz, when in actuality they are just pointing out that some goals are not entirely his fault . Or some think folks are not justified to point out some of the good things he's done, or that he showed improvement, because his GAA or Save percentage is down...It might really be a blessing in disguise that our goalies are going through a bad time early on.....Some goalies lighting it up might slump later this season....Hopefully both our Goalies and team are in full stride come spring time..
