I don't think Panthers fans should be mad at Clemmer, they should be more concerned that you only scored 2 goals on the Rangers backup goalie. Biron has a lot of wins but he is pretty average. And the Rangers can score on anyone.
Biron has an average of one less goal per game than Clemmer, the Panthers pretty average backup goalie. That translates to a number of points over the season.
Neither team were offensive juggernauts last night.
Glad everyone is happy being .500 we are 20-20. 8 are OTL but they are still losses. Washington is 4 PTS behind with 2 games in hand. Getting a point at good teams isn't good enough they need to win.
After over a decade of misery excuse me if I'm not happy when we lose even if we get a point. I'm finding out that when playoffs are looking possible I get really pissed when we lose.
We've got to go on another winning streak soon to keep 1st place in the division. Only a matter of time before Washington doesn't just go past us, but blows by without looking back.
Wow, everyone needs to relax.. Seriously, if we win tonight, we'll be up by 7 points. Why is Washington all of sudden going to explode and fly by us? I read that Backstrom is injuried.. Isn't he a big part of their offense? Why won't we go on any winning streaks? We're getting guys back from injury as well as adding Madden to the mix.
I thought it was an overall good game by both teams. I hate the Rags, and I think Clemmer was....okay.. but it was still a good game against the top team in the East. At least we weren't Calgary and got blown out 9-0 against Boston. With a win tonight, we'd take 3 out of 4 points, is that so bad. Especially with our #1 netminder out of the lineup? This is our "so-to-speak slump" and we've still managed to keep our heads above water. We aren't chasing any teams to climb back into the playoff hunt, we're LEADING!!! Even if Washington does go on a streak, as long as we do the same, we'll be ahead.

No we won't. We'll be up by 6 ASSUMING the Caps lose.

This isn't football. Points from an OTL are included in the point total at the end of the regular season. That point total determines whether we make the playoffs, as well as other statistics for tie-breakers. The accurate thing to say would be, "We have 28 out of 40 point-netting games."
Woo Hoo we got some of our injured players back, played a back up goalie and we lost I hope to god the team isn't happy they got a point because if they are then we are in trouble.
Who said anything about the players being happy? I'm happy as a fan that we got a point. You lack perspective. Rangers are the hottest team in the league right now. A point is good.

Have you seen the 6 points in 5 games thread... I'm guessing you haven't, otherwise you'd understand how important points are.

A point is barely acceptable. I'm not happy at all. I don't give a crap if someone thinks that's lacking perspective or insensitive. I just hate to lose, period. A decade's wait has made me impatient and cranky.

Well, you have that right. As for me? Clemmer in net, still some guys out, playing against one of the best teams in the League...reality says that was a great point, and I'm happy.

Good effort last night. Clemmensen kept us in the game...Funny to say that, recently he has been the reason why we lost. It seems as if every team is employing the same strategy against are small and not very physical top line. Other teams are just playing versteeg, weiss, and fleischman very physically and our chances with that top line are limited to fast transition rushes up the ice, if one player bobbles the puck our slows down a bit on their way into the zone it seems as if they hold on to the puck a bit longer and then lose it to the other team. Seems like there production has slowed down a lot...The 2 bench minors really hurt us. I always get nervous when the puck is sitting in front of the bench during a line change, always seems to bite us in the rear end. Samuellson and Goc brought some much needed offense to the team and you can tell the difference with them in the line up. We actually have more then one line that has some creativity and speed coming up the ice. It will be nice when Sturm is back in the line up, he was a really good role player and he does the little things really well. I have really missed him believe it or not. Curious to see if we get a look at Madden tonight. We need to be picking up 2 pts at this point or we will be trailing washington/winnepeg very soon.

Next season should be a treat for you then, I hear the panthers are planning on winning all 82 games of the season.

How many times is this going to be brought up, this isnt NFL, NBA, or MLB. The standings are based on points, and 40 games in (80 points), we have 48 points, which is 60% of the points.
Yes it was disappointing to lose in OT. We did get a point though and it felt like we were outplayed last night. That plus some very stupid bench penalties.
We might get a look at Madden in the line up tonight. Possibly Markstrom in net? Think our chances are good for tonight.
Tonight's game is the exact half way point of the season. 2 points means we are on pace for 100 pt season. Guys will be coming back and we are only going to get better, look at where we are point wise with all the injuries we have had. Nothing to complain about, the sky isn't falling.

I hear you and PBPF, and yes every loss sucks. What Im saying is one point is incredibly better than none, and the diff between getting 0 and 1 is greater than the diff between getting 1 or 2. I put this in the 6in 5 thread..Sportsclubstat.com is a very cool site that someone on that thread turned me onto. For example, the otl brought us closer to the playoffs ( by 1%) while a reg loss would have brought us 3 % further away; a huge diff.
(It also tells u which teams of other games you want to root for and their impact.).
We are not blowing3-0 leads into otl, i think that would piss us all off more. We're going to lose 25 games even if we make 100 points.I think thats why i like looking at this in chunks, (you could look at it in home and road stands, months, 10 games etc doesnt matter).
I love that we all hate losing, it feels good for it to matter that much, and to score board watch for the first time this century. I have been vested in this team for 16yrs, so i in no way am belittling you hating each loss, otl or reg. loss.

1 point is better than 0. I don't understand why some hockey fans still feel this way about the whole .500 thing. There's a difference; it's simple math.
If you use OT/SO losses to call a team a .500 team, most teams in the NHL are .500 teams. It doesn't work that way, mathematically.
We've played 40 games and we have 48 points. If we were a .500 hockey team right now, we'd have 40 points.
Adam -- thanks for injecting a voice of reason, and I didn't mean anything personal. I fully acknowledge that I'm acting irrational and cranky when we play. After putting up with other team fans for so long, I'm unwilling to accept losses any more. Just the way it is....I would change my username to ANGRY tree frog if it wasn't taken already :-)
